Sarah_Louise is back!! This time I'm back to stay! I've been absent from Ciao for over a year now (time flies!) but I blame the birth of my first baby last July having a lot to do with it! :o)

After seeing Scream a good few years back I’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel (ok, sequels now!) to come out on TV. (You must understand that although Scream 2 has been out on video for a while…. I only rarely buy the video’s!) So, when I was looking through the Weekend TV guide and noticed Scream 2 was going to be shown on Channel 4 I was determined not to miss it! Normally I forget about them until the day after when everyone is talking about it! However this time, to make sure, I added the date on my calendar! [how sad is that?!]
If you haven’t yet seen Scream then I guess this opinion will be a little bit confusing. My advice would be to watch Scream first (my mum watched Scream 2 and I got annoyed having to explain who everyone was to her!)
Having said all that it isn’t essential to know who they all are before watching this film.
~ Who’s who? ~
Director:
Wes Craven Producer: Cathy Konrad Marianne Maddalena Screenplay: Kevin Williamson Main cast: Neve Campbell Courtney Cox Jerry O'Connell Liev Schreiber David Arquette
The original cast members Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Liev Schrieber and David Arquette are reunited when they discover that some secrets from the past are better left forgotten.
~ How old do you have to be to watch this film? ~
Well it’s got an 18 rating, so you do the sums.
~ Is it better than Scream? ~
Well, in a word, no. (No surprise there then!) The story line isn’t half as believable and generally the “gore” factor isn’t as high in this film (although that could be classed as a good thing of course!).
Personally I think Scream had a better plot to it and more dramatic scenes. That by no means, means that Scream 2 is not a good film. It is, well I think so!
~ What happens in the film? ~
Obviously this is the time all you who haven’t seen the film, or who don’t want to know, look away now (in 10 o’clock news voice!).
First we see Phil to get killed:
Phil and his girlfriend (Hallie) go to the cinema to see previews of a new movie, aptly named “STAB”. “Stab” is supposed to be a film based on a true story – infact it is… it’s based on Scream! …. when 2 mass murderers start to kill all their friends from Woodsborough High.
Hallie isn’t keen on horror movies but agrees to see this film anyway. Most of the audience are wearing the traditional ghost mask and have plastic, glow in the dark knives. Irrelevant you may think? Well nope, you’ll see!
Phil goes off to the toilet and ends up with a knife through his cheek. You then see “Phil” go back to sit by Hallie, in the ghost mask an’ all. Needless to say Hallie doesn’t think twice seen as most of the audience are in these masks. Not until the so called “Phil” stabs her repeatedly. A daft place to murder one you may think? Well no, this murderer is darned clever. No one notices!! They think they’re just messing around!!
< Cut a bit out of story >
News gets around, everyone knows about the killings.
This is the bit where you really should have seen Scream first.
Sidney (main character), who, had you watched Scream you’d know, was one of the few survivers of Scream. Her mother had been killed and she thought the murderer in Scream was after her. Well when she heard this news of the new spate of murders she became very anxious (inevitable don’t you agree?!).
The next victim is that of Cici (played by Sarah Michelle Geller).
It is at this point the police notice a trend in the killings. This murderer (or is it a plural?) is copying the Woodsborough attacks (see Scream).
< Cuts quite a bit out of the story >
To cut a long story short you find that a certain person who I guess has a right to be a little angry is the murderer (one of the murderers even!?) For who it is then you’ll just have to watch it yourself to find out! (Sorry!)
I guess I’m just going to have to wait for Scream 3 to come onto Sky or normal TV! Now I really, really can’t think who the killer(s) are in number 3!
