Season 3 of TNG - Where it really kicked off

Advantages: Really stepping up from season 2 will great episodes
Disadvantages: Not too many special features included

...think that season 3 of Star Trek The Next Generation is where the show really came into its own and started to cast off the shadow left by the original series. Season 3 has some terrific science fiction stories told with classic episodes like "Yesterday's Enterprise", "The Defector", "Best Of Both Worlds Part I" and "Sarek" which sees Mark Lenard return as Spocks father. ...as with a lot of Star Trek The Next Generation most of the episodes are self contained so will not require a lot of pre-existing knowledge or having to watch previous seasons. I will however recommend buying season 4 aswell as the end cliffhanger from season 3 in "Best Of Both Worlds" is widely considered one of the best in science fiction still after all these years. Attack of the clones

Advantages: Seeing the Enterprise in more glory than before
Disadvantages: Saying goodbye to favourite characters

Nemisis, the tenth outing for Star Trek and the last for the 'Next Generation' crew and captain. The story centres around the takeover of the Romulan Empire by the Remuns.... a servile race to the Romulans who spend most of their lives underground working in mines or in slavery...all in the dark. They have proven to be formidable warriors however, as they have supported the ground war against the Dominion. This film is a great end to the Next generation ...

The wekest bit I felt in this film was Picard et al, driving around on a desert planet....seemed a bit silly to me, surely there was an easier way to find their precious cargo! The Jean Luc Picard centre piece to the story is great and it is interesting to see and note how Picard copes with addressing the demons in his character and also...how he acknowledges that he has become 'safe'. Review of Star Trek - Nemesis (DVD)

Probabaly the best season.

Advantages: Both parts of Unification are on this disc.
Disadvantages: The game which is pretty poor

This is by far the best of the Next Generation series. The common theme of this being Ethics. The brilliant episode Darmok is here as well as Silicon Avator which sees the destruction of the crysatlline entity. We also see the emergance of the Marquis and meet Ensign Ro. Alexander Worfs' son joins the cast and suicide is discussed in Ethcs when Worf is paralysed. Power Play in which Troi and Data and O'Brien are pocessed by spirits is also good. ...
...the legendary Lenard Nimoy in the 2 part episode Unification which is probably one of the best two part episodes. The writers included Jeri Taylor give a very good insight into this season. It also shows a quite beautiful tribute to Gene Roddenberry which left me in tears. Also a profile of other guest stars ie Kirsten Dunst in Dark Page. Famke Janssen who started her career in Perfect Mate and Ashley Judd who played Wesleys' girlfriend Robin Lefler. ...
