A Great Family Film - Stardust

Advantages: Great cast, exciting storyline
Disadvantages: None

...originally became interested in seeing Stardust when I saw an advert in the cinema but didn't actually see it till it was on DVD. When in Asda one night we saw this DVD and thought we would give it a go. Stardust is a fairytale but not just a normal boring one, it has many exciting twists and turns. The story begins as a young boy attempts to cross over the wall next to the village he lived in also called Wall. The guard of the wall attempts to stop ...
...in a different world. He goes in to the market and ends up getting into mischief with a beautiful slave. 9 months later a small parcel appears on his doorstep, his son Tristan. The story then moves on to when Tristan himself is a young man. He works in a shop and is in love with the beautiful Victoria. He tries to woo her and ends up promising her a star if she agrees to marry him. He then sets off to try and get the star that fell. The guard does ...

TRY SIGNS YOU'LL BECOME A SCI FI GEEK AFTER THIS AMAZING THRILLER

Advantages: Amazing storyline
Disadvantages: none to mention

Signs is a science fiction/thriller movie. Directed by the amazing M. Night shyamalan who has done many of my favorite movies. . e.g. 'The Happening' 'Lady in the water' 'The Sixth Sense'. It was released in the UK september 13 2002, by Touchstone Home Video. The Storyline: Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his family had been living in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. After a night of a confusing event they are told it was a possibility of an attempted burglary, ...
...are told extra-terrestrials are responsible. Signs is about a family who come together more than ever and forget their losses to try to survive through this wordly phenomenom. The mains actors/actresses: Mel Gibson (Rev. Graham Hess), Joaquin Phoenix (Merrill Hess), Rory Culkin (Morgan Hess) and Abigail Breslin (Bo Hess), The director himself also plays a small part like he does in all his films. Signs has won 2 awards and been nominated 15 times. ...

Bug war!

Advantages: Awesome scifi war movie adapted from a novel
Disadvantages: Could have been a bit longer

The Earth is coming under a new alien threat from bugs! They even drop a meteor on Brazil (an idea they stole from Jerry Niven's novel Footfall) and the worlds Governments decide that a hard miltary strike back at them is the only solution. Paul Verhoeven is an excellent director. I liked this and I'd also previously liked Total Recall which he also directed. Micheal Ironside is truly brilliant in this and very well cast in his role indeed. He always ...
...a change he's actually a good guy. He gets some excellent lines, some seriously good action fight scenes and gets to die in an action filled way. The soccer type scene was stolen from at least 2 other movies (one starring Dean Cain and Wesley Snipes which I can't remember the tile of, and it also looked a bit like the really rubbish remake of Rollerball). The chunky blond chap who looks like a young Gary Busey (the one who gets a knife in the hand ...

Serenity, highly under rated!

Advantages: Funny, action packed, fast paced
Disadvantages: Never to be seen again

...always littered with techno jargon. Serenity proves that it can be enjoyed by anyone. The relationships amongst the crew are acted out fantastically and you do feel for certain characters at times of tragedy. For those who love big explosions, this does not disappoint. The battle with the reavers is intense. I did feel however that the film tried to have too much in it in terms of wrapping up major storylines. It was all done excellently but it ...
...either another series or another movie in order to do the characters justice. For example, the character of Book. Throughout the show you get hints that there is more to him that meets the eye. With more air time, his story would have been more complete, but now you are just left wondering As for the extras, they are very funny. You feel a true sense of friendship amongst the cast which reflects so well on screen. It's just a shame it is only being ...

The best of the best

Advantages: Ground breaking special effects
Disadvantages: It had to end... I was gutted!

...think this is the best Star Trek film ever made? Why can I still remember most of the words to the film? Why would I recommend this film to you without reservation....read on! 1. This is an excellent example of a tv series to movie cross over. The readmission of a character from the original series was a genius move. 2. We see the Enterprise going to warp in two different ways, the latter paving the way for future warp speeds! 3. The crew have great ...
...his trust for all things Star Fleet, I cannot tell you how many times I have shouted at the screen ' just raise your shields NOW!!!' 6. We get to see GENESIS and it is great to see that we have the scientific know how to develop such a device, particularly when all we have seen of the future tech is a range of colourful screens and buttons - this can actually make a planet habitable! 7. This film employed amazing CGI work - It is rumoured that the ...
