Review of Star Trek - The Original Series - Series 3 DVD by
Mauri
Advantages: Essential for the true fan, good extras
Disadvantages: not remastered
...by Gene Roddenberry in 1964 Star Trek quickly established itself as one of the most groundbreaking and intelligent plot led science fiction series ever made. For the first time the genre was targeted at an adult audience and often very problematic themes were dealt with which could only get past the restrictive censorship of the time due to the fantastical nature of the program.
The vision of the future was a benign one where humanity despite having ... ...all the episodes the original Star Trek series (first broadcast between 1968 and 1969). On disc 7 Star trek fans get a real treat, the original pilot episode first commissioned in September 1964 featuring Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Pike (with no captain Kirk!) Indeed two different versions are included one in colour and one where the action switches from colour to B/W, which was never shown. Apart from Kirk missing we also get to see an early incarnation ...

...I thought I would give Star Trek another review, so here goes. Please make yourself, comfortable, mobiles off and relax….
Star Trek III - The Search for Spock is one of those films that you see the characters in a different light. The film itself was released back in 1984. Leonard Nimoy who had been killed off at the end of the previous movie was hired to direct this one.

The Voyage Home
Review of Star Trek 4 : The Voyage Home DVD by
phurren2006
Advantages: A great sense of humour
Disadvantages: None
...Vulcan, after the events of STAR TREK III: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK. They decide to return to Earth to face the consequences of their actions in that film on board the Klingon Bird-Of-Prey warship they have captured and renamed the H.M.S. Bounty. Spock, having been returned to life in the previous film, has recovered and takes his place with the crew. However the planet Earth is being threatened by a new danger (an alien 'probe'), and Kirk and his crew ... ...the trilogy which started with STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN - the next film in the series begins a new adventure.
An interesting titbit is that Eddie Murphy was originally slated to appear in this film. I personally am very glad that he didn't as I cannot see how his particular brand of comedy would have fitted into the Star Trek world.
I really enjoy STAR TREK 4. It was the first movie in the series I ever saw and although I had not seen the ...

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Review of Star Trek - The Motion Picture DVD by
phurren2006
Advantages: The entire main cast from the TV show return
Disadvantages: It is very slow
...INTRODUCTION
----------------
Released in 1979, STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE is a sequel to the 1960s television show STAR TREK. The franchise had suffered the ignominy of an animated series in the mid-1970s, which is in fact regarded quite highly amongst aficionados, but this film really kickstarted the STAR TREK franchise, leading to a further 9 films with yet another currently being made, and another four TV series to date. The STAR TREK saga ... ...as the second film - STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN - as you will see if you read my upcoming review on that movie!)
----------------
THE PLOT
----------------
Admiral James T. Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise enter the enormous constructions surrounding V'Ger, an incredibly powerful being that is on a very destructive course through Starfleet space, heading towards the planet Earth. Kirk has a new First Officer (Decker, played by Stephen ...

Star Trek Movies Collection
Review of Star Trek - The Film Collection (The Motion Picture-Nemesis) by
Fussells4
Advantages: Every Star Trek Movie, in one Handy Box
Disadvantages: There aren't enough hours in a day!
If you love Star Trek, these are definitely for you!
This is every movie ever made, okay thats only ten, but still thats impressive.
The packaging is brilliant, it is a box within a box, with two Holders within that, which spread out and hold five movies.
There are five original movies, and five of the next generation movies. In total they make 1101 minutes (I make that about 18 hours 30 mins) of pure star Trek excellence. The ratings of the movies ... ...you havent seen them.
STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE
Produced 1979, Directed by Robert Wise
This is the first movie. Star Trek was going down hill, and was switched off air, so to get back in the swing, they launched this movie, which all of a sudden created an explosion of Star Trek fans, which was good for us, as it also encouraged them to make more movies! The only disappointing thing about it, is there is no special features or anything, you ...
