Look lady, I'm just a delivery boy and to me your just a package

Advantages: Nice ideas, not executed perfectly
Disadvantages: Some of the acting is a tad ropey

...much hope. So Babylon A.D. whats it all about....... A few decades in the future (This is unclear but we know that 2017 was in the past through dialogue), a mercenary named Toorop (Vin Diesel) living very roughly in a desolate Serbia accepts a contract from a Russian mobster, Gorsky (An almost unrecognisable Gerard Depardieu), to bring a young woman only known as Aurora (Mélanie Thierry) to New York. Gorsky gives Toorop £500,000 and a variety of ...
...passport which must be injected into his neck, as all borders are now UN controlled. Toorop meets Sister Rebeka (Michelle Yeoh) the guardian of Aurora and the delicate young lady herself and they begin the arduous journey from their Russian convent to America. The Russia in this film is dark, overpopulated and dangerous, we see bombs going off through terrorists, refugee camps filled with debauchery, violence and greed and all the worst traits of ...

Babylon A.D.: how to destroy creativity

Advantages: Some alright stunts
Disadvantages: Studio interference, horrendous script and acting

...website, ShaunMunro.co.uk, and Dooyoo! Babylon A.D. is a film branded as “pure violence and stupidity” by even its own director, Mathieu Kassovitz, who further resolves that “parts of the movie are like a bad episode of ‘24’”. Whilst Kassovitz’s claims that Fox seized much of his creative and directorial control would surprise few, Babylon A.D. is still a sloppily directed and poorly acted film from every angle. It is incredibly unfortunate for ...
...Even as standard action fare, Babylon A.D. fails to deliver any sort of visceral thrills – curiously devoid of much kinetic activity for its first 40 minutes, things finally kick off in a Russian club, whereby Toorop finds himself battling a musclebound behemoth inside a cage. However, the scene ends on an unintentionally hilarious note that entirely undermines the preceding action, and makes it difficult to take Diesel’s character as anything more ...

Out of Diesel

Advantages: Some reasonable stunt driving.
Disadvantages: Everything else.

When battle-scarred mercenary Toorop is hired to deliver a package from post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe to New York, it’s just another job for him. But the ‘package’ turns out to be Aurora, a young woman with a big secret. She was brought to life by a computer and contains all the knowledge of the universe. She is also emotionally fragile, mentally unstable, terrified of the world and unaware of the power she holds. She has a devastating effect on ...
...so, maybe the world… Just when you think Vin Diesel’s career can’t sink any lower, he manages to make another turkey with less brains than a head of cabbage. The curse of French director Mathieu Kassovitz’s English language career is also writ large on this project. If “Gothika” wasn’t bad enough, he has to go and deliver this abortion of a film. Not only that, but he co-wrote it too (presumably on a tripe-writer) so he has to shoulder most of the ...

You Look Like a Radioactive Tampon

Advantages: Great Direction and Acting
Disadvantages: Too Slow for some

Moon reminds me a lot of those big weighty Sci-fi films of the seventies where it was all about atmosphere, storyline and your imagination rather than riotous special effects and wise cracking aliens. This film is utterly beguiling, its tense but strangely relaxing, all of these is down to two men, the director Duncan Jones and the star Sam Rockwell. This is Jones' first feature film and its an incredibly impressive debut, he eschewed using his father ...
...it is a really fantastic film which is a credit to him. Starring Sam Rockwell as Sam, the only worker on an automated lunar mining complex. He has been working on his own for nearly three years and nearing the end of his term in space he feels lonely, isolated and confused....as anyone would, I imagine. With only a droid, Gerty (Voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company, Sam is alone and starts to feel a world apart from Earth, he feels he is alone but ...

Sometimes, Ignorance is bliss

Advantages: clever thriller, good story, well acted
Disadvantages: bit depressing?

Dont misunderstand my review title, this is a cracking film. You can nearly always say that about Nicolas Cage films, but this one really is! The premise is simple. There are many disasters happening on earth, for some reason, aliens decide to warn mankind about the upcoming disasters by "whispering" them to a little girl in the 1950's. Unfortuneately, that girl does nothing with the information other than write it down on a bit of paper and allow ...
...capsule. The capsule is dug up in the current day and discovered by Nicolas Cage's character. He soon discovers the code in the series of numbers written on the page and works out that the code tells of impending disasters, when they will happen, how many will die and the location. The story continues on along this path, with a worrying fortelling of the end of days. We don't know what will happen right until the end. I wont ruin it for you either, ...
