The return of the Cybermen!

Advantages: Cybermen, continued excellence
Disadvantages: Cyvermen episode drags in parts

...first series of the revamped Doctor Who, we saw Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor taking on his old adversaries the Daleks in fine form, ending the series with a belter. The producers have chosen the middle of the second series to provide the now established David Tennant as the Doctor with the character's other most deadly foe - the Cybermen! Episodes Rise of the Cyberman The Doctor and Rose find themselves in a parallel universe, where different ...

Bats, Busoms & A dying Timelord

Advantages: Peri!
Disadvantages: A weird villain

...the story where Peter Davison's Doctor finally hangs up his sonic screwdriver after his time at the helm of the Tardis. Off to a planet where there are drugs, bats & a madman. You won't notice this if your male as you will most likely spend a lot of this story watching Peri (played blindingly well by the stunningly lovely Nicola Bryant who I was passionately in love with) and her amazing cleavage and tight fitting outfits. Peter has a great death ...
...as she leans over the Doctor as he's dying. Watch it with the commntary on and everyone mentions it! The story isn't brilliant, the characters aren't brilliant but it's classic Doctor Who and you can never expect to much from it. Be happy you have Nicola Bryant and her amazing busom to watch if your a guy. Enjoy Peter Davison's performance if your a lady. ...

A real revelation

Advantages: Peri, Davros and the dark horror element.
Disadvantages: Some hammy acting.

I have found this story to be one of the most difficult to rate in the Dr Who series. The storyline is very good. An almost macabre, black comedy, coupled with some irritating characters. Take the story as a whole and it reads very favourably. The Tardis lands on Necros, the home of Tranquil Repose, a funeral home for the galaxy's richest people. For some strange reason there are Daleks all over the place and a mysterious character called the Great ...
...Alexi Sayle as the DJ is a strange choice and the character of Kara, is almost Shakespearean and a trifle annoying. The way she goes about hiring the mercenary Orcini to kill the Great Healer, is majestic thespianism at its best. This story has been criticised in the past because of the amount of gruesome violence, but it only succeds in emphasising the horror of what is going on at Tranquil Repose and the work of the Great Healer. When it turns ...

Sontar-HA!

Advantages: price, episodes, talent
Disadvantages: no features

I'm a massive Doctor Who fan, and as soon as the Series 4 volume 2 DVD came out, I rushed to the shops to buy it! The world of the Time lord himself has been captured on the disk, and as we enter a world where creatures are unexplainable and companions have such a fry attitude that we need extinguishers, the stories unravel, creating an atmosphere so tense than it could be cut with a knife... The Doctor travels both back in time and to the future, ...
...poison. It's up to the Doctor and latest companion Donna Noble to solve the problem, but can they do it before the entire planet is smothered? The third episode is the Doctor's Daughter. There's something quite special about this episode. The Doctor and Donna, now joined by old companion Martha Jones (who had been working for Torchwood and met up with the Sontaran troubles!), take a trip and end up discovering a 'human' creature created from the ...

Sarah Jane continues to save the world

Advantages: Harmless family entertainment, good plots and fine acting
Disadvantages: The background music is a little too much, spoiling the dialogue

The Sarah Jane adventures is one of the spin off shows from the very popular and much loved Doctor Who series, Sarah Jane being a companion from the 1970’s Doctor Who stories, with the Jon Pertwee, (the third doctor) and Tom Baker, (the fourth doctor). The other spin off show from Doctor Who is called Torchwood, which is more for the older audience, whilst Sarah Jane is aimed at the younger ones, being aired on the BBC childrens channel. As for ...

But before she leaves she has to help deal with Commander Kaagh, a rather strange looking Alien from the Sontaran, who is intent on destroying the earth to avenge the death of his entire race. * The day of the Clown , (two episodes) The Jackson family have moved to America and it is not long before the Chandra family, Rani, her father Heresh and her mother Gita, move into their old ...
