The Day the Earth Caught Fire

Advantages: Enjoyable Sci-Fi romp
Disadvantages: None

The Day the Earth Caught Fire Thanks to the United States and the Soviet Union the earths orbit has been catastrophically changed. They simultaneously detonated 'H' bombs and now the Earth is headed straight into the sun. And this is how the film opens! At first the government deny everything but soon it's impossible to cover things up and then the panic and the anarchy start. We follow event from a newspaper hacks point ...
...and ends up in the thick of the action. The only way to save the Earth is to detonate 2 more bombs and try to restore the Earths orbit. Yeah I know the science doesn't hang together but this was filmed in the 60's. The special effects are minimum but that was fine because the acting and the plot speed more than made up for it. Filmed in black and white and to be honest it was probably the better for it. Recommended to watch at least once. ...

A snapshot dive into a crazy imagination

Advantages: Great use of a crazy imagination! Very funny!
Disadvantages: Comes accross as slightly low budget

...by some. Slightly out of the ordinary. Personally though... it had me in creases of laughter, and has become a personal favourite! The film is about a Baron. The Baron. The Baron Munchausen. The Baron is considered as a fictional character, who has several friends with exceptional abilities, such as strength, sight, hearing etc. A play cast are half way through a performance of his adventures when the real Baron turns up and relates his own account ...
...in places such as on the moon (which they fall off), with Vulcan the God (who's wife the Baron seduces), and in the middle of a full scale war, defending a city. The cast stars Eric Idle, who was made popular mainly by the "Monty Python" series, but he has also starred in several other comedy films, giving them the finishing flourish they need, and this is certainly true of "The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen". Worthy to add to any stargate collection.

Advantages: great episodes and value for money
Disadvantages: non that i can think of

...Oneil has been stuck at stargate command and for me i mist his interaction with SG1 off world and in the 2nd episode on this dvd he does. This dvd has 3 episodes Gemini, It's good to be king and full alert. i won't mention who is in full alert, it will give you a good surprise if you have followed the series, if not it might be worth catching up on Stargate basics. This is an exellent farewell aperence by Tom and his commeraderywith oneil makes this episode what it is, funny, entriguing and exting. it is a great episode.
