...The opening of the alien egg and the crawling thing that emerges is ghastly, when it decides to give Kane (John Hurt) a big kiss you know things are about to get ugly very quickly. The crew are simply out of their depth and simply cannot cope with what is about to happen to them. Only 'Jones' the ships cat knows what is happening and he soon makes tracks for the escape pod. The film was darkly shot but that was to its advantage because unlike more ...

The definitive Alien collection

Advantages: Original and director's cut edition, flawless transfer, every extra you could want
Disadvantages: None

Of all movie monsters, the Alien has to be my favourite and this box set is an esential for anyone who has seen and loved any or all of the four pure Alien movies (dsicounting the Alien/ Predator crossover genre). Having been old enough to have seen the original Alien at the cinema I was pleased that the box set includes the original as well as the new updated and reditied versions of all four of the movies. There are also extras beyond belief and ...
...movies fear not. The redited Alien for example was lovingly crafted by original director Ridley Scott who correctly recognised that a modern cinema audience would find the original somewhat slow paced in places. He has also skillfully added back scenes removed from the original release which, on viewing, are essential to the plot and reveal new charater nuances and tensions that seemed strange and unexplained previously. This set was expensive when ...

Eighties action film with Arnie

Advantages: Schwarzenegger
Disadvantages: A bit dated looking

...and film and his book, The Running Man is no different. It was released in 1987 and directed by Paul Michael Glaser. The Running Man is set in the near future, where a dictatorial society exists. The economy has collapsed and a small group of revolutionaries try to fight the oppression. During a food riot, Helicopter cop, Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is ordered to fire and kill the rioters. When he resists, he is over powered and his colleagues ...
...called Running Man, hosted by the heartless, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson). This show is used as a means to distract the population from their dreary lives. Richards and other criminals must survive the show as they are hunted by vicious men who kill their targets in cruel ways all in the aid of ratings. I liked this film and thought it was a frightening vision of the future. It was a good story and featured some despicable characters. Arnold Schwarzenegger ...

...think this is the best Star Trek film ever made? Why can I still remember most of the words to the film? Why would I recommend this film to you without reservation....read on! 1. This is an excellent example of a tv series to movie cross over. The readmission of a character from the original series was a genius move. 2. We see the Enterprise going to warp in two different ways, the latter paving the way for future warp speeds! 3. The crew have great ...

We get to see GENESIS and it is great to see that we have the scientific know how to develop such a device, particularly when all we have seen of the future tech is a range of colourful screens and buttons - this can actually make a planet habitable! 7. This film employed amazing CGI work - It is rumoured that the ...

Is there a chance of saving spocks memories by retrieving Spocks body from genesis. But a klingon bird of prey hears about genesis. And starfleet refuses to let kirk return. ...film, repeating spocks death and funeral was great and the musical score was done fabulously by James Horner who did the nusic for the second film. The model shots for the enterprise , the bird of prey and space dock are just amazing. The story is a little confusing if you haven't seen the second film or if your not a trek fan but its an enjoyable film. But points are deducted because most of the scenes after space dock were on the bridge of the ...
