William Shatner Presents.........

Advantages: New Enterprise, original cast.
Disadvantages: Script is awful, not enough budget.

...effectively opened the door. With Star Trek V - The Final Frontier we have a complete mish mash of a story and complete and utter mess in continuity and a complete injustice to fans. The film begins with Kirk, Spock and McCoy on a camping trip, unknown to them a renegade Vulcan has taken hostages on the plant Numbus III. The planet being unique as it is the only place in the universe that Klingon, Human and Romulan live together. The Enterprise is ...
...have the gravity of a Star Trek film; this makes the film feel uncomfortable to watch. A good example with the script is the scene with Uhura and Scotty flirting together on the bridge or the fact that the Enterprise now has a staggering 72 decks when before it only had 11! This is never explained and yet can only be assumed that this is a mistake that continuity didn't pick up. Also the way the Enterprise has been fitted out looks just ugly, pipes ...

End Of An Era! All Change......

Advantages: An even numbered classic adventure.
Disadvantages: Last film of the original crew.

...total lunacy of the fifth Star Trek film released in 1989, the sixth film in the franchise had to be something different and also had to be something special, given the fact that this would be the last time the crew of the USS Enterprise would be together on-screen. Released in early 1992 in Europe, the film centres on the Klingons. It has been discovered by the USS Excelsior that he Klingon moon of Praxis has been destroyed by an internal explosion ...
...by Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall, she plays a tolerant officer who Spock believes has the calibre to replace him as Captain of the Enterprise one day. The character is fleshed out with a decent back-story as well which is raised in conversation in the early part of the film. Cattrall does play the part well and has the Vulcan method of delivery down pat, she also manages to deliver the Vulcan eyebrow raise with perfect timing! The victim of ...

Dont let the odd number put you off!!

Advantages: Odd number - Good film!!!
Disadvantages: The Enterprise is sacrificed

...I thought I would give Star Trek another review, so here goes. Please make yourself, comfortable, mobiles off and relax…. Star Trek III - The Search for Spock is one of those films that you see the characters in a different light. The film itself was released back in 1984. Leonard Nimoy who had been killed off at the end of the previous movie was hired to direct this one. This is what the 2 disc set contains…. Disc 1: Audio commentary by director ...

...and now a word from William Shatner...

Advantages: All of the regular cast return
Disadvantages: Erm, everything else

...1988: "I'm fed up. Star Trek was meant to be MY series, MINE. I was the star. First billed. I was the one who was meant to get all of the girls and who the series was meant to be based around. But instead that SOB Leonard Nimoy got too much credit. Just for sticking on some pointy ears and pretending to have no emotions. When the show finished he got straight onto a starring role on Mission Impossible, and I got to do hardly anything and even had ...
...effects and bad effects. It's Star Trek - they'll come anyway. "What? You'll only let me direct 1 film? But Nimoy directed 2. It's not fair. I'm going to throw a tantrum. Oh, it's not going to work? OK then, I'll just make a rubbish movie, that'll show you..." ...and so he did. ...

The Wrath of Khan

Advantages: It has humour and humanity
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...---------------- Rel eased in 1982, STAR TREK II - THE WRATH OF KHAN is a sequel to both STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE (released in 1979), and the episode 'Space Seed' from the first season of the original TV show STAR TREK. The first movie had not been well received by the critics, although it did quite well at the box office. Unfortunately its gross was not good enough for the studio in comparison for its budget so with the second movie they ...
...-------------------------------- THE DIRECTOR -------------------------------- STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN was directed by Nicholas Meyer, who also contributed to the writing of the script. Meyer would later return to the STAR TREK fold as writer of the 4th movie, and writer/director of the 6th. ------------------------------------------ MY VIEWS ON THE FILM ------------------------------------------ The slow moving STAR TREK: THE MOTION ...
