a good sequel

Advantages: a very entertaining film
Disadvantages: gets a little boring

STORY Arriving back at earth after the battle with Khan, Admiral James T Kirk reflects upon the death of his friend Spock. But a visit from Spocks father reveals that Mcoy has Spocks living spirit. Is there a chance of saving spocks memories by retrieving Spocks body from genesis. But a klingon bird of prey hears about genesis. And starfleet refuses to let kirk return. So what will kirk do and what will the klingons do? VERDICT A very good sequel ...
...film, repeating spocks death and funeral was great and the musical score was done fabulously by James Horner who did the nusic for the second film. The model shots for the enterprise , the bird of prey and space dock are just amazing. The story is a little confusing if you haven't seen the second film or if your not a trek fan but its an enjoyable film. But points are deducted because most of the scenes after space dock were on the bridge of the ...

Star Trek 6: rediscovering the basics!

Advantages: Great Entertainment
Disadvantages: Too many shakspearian references

My reviews of the Star Trek movies continue with this brilliant instalment which see's a further change in direction which you can feel to an even greater extent than was apparent in the transition from Star Trek IV to Star Trek V. Clearly having suffered the indignation of a comparatively unsuccessful movie that was Star Trek V, Paramount have decided to "come home" by re-introducing Nicholas Meyer as the director of this Cold War of the future ...
...Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and a fine job he did too. He's well and truly back and every scene has his name written all over it. The plot of this film relates to the breaking down of barriers between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. But its more than that, it's a struggle for survival for the Klingons, a struggle to forgive for Captain James T. Kirk who's son's life was taken by a Klingon in Star Trek III: The Search ...

Boldly going blah blah blah....

Advantages: A brand new Enterprise!
Disadvantages: It feels so slow, it lacks the pace of an adventurous Sci-fi film!

...with Kirks every whim! Star Trek five was directed by Leonard Nimoy and is dare I say....the weakest of the Star Trek movie franchise. To be fair to it though, there are so moments of genius. I loved Mr. Spock, Bones and Kirk singing 'Row Row Row your boat' around the camp fire. It is a touching moment, especially when Kirk laments that he has always known that he will die alone...it is like the last supper for three dear colleagues...who have become ...
...one was burnt up in Star Trek 3). It was originally the USS Yorktown, but was renamed in honour of Kirk and his crew who had just saved Earth...again (see Star Trek 4)! The scenes with the rocket boots are also really well done and a lot of fun. The film is about the search for God and features many of the fine original cast. it also, features Spocks brother...a Vulcan who has enbraced his 'humanity'. the film has all of the elements that we have ...

The TOS Crew Signs Off...

Advantages: Relevant Plot, Great Performances, Excellent Special Effects
Disadvantages: Betrays some Trek Values

Star Trek The Undiscovered Country marks the final voyage of the entire TOS crew in the Star Trek franchise. The movie originally premiered in 1992, when the memory of the Cold War and the fall of the USSR was still quite vivid in the minds of many people. It is from this time that the Undiscovered Country was produced, and as you watch the movie you can draw many, many parallels between the US/USSR and the Federation/Klingons. And as fans know, ...
...The story is a Star Trek spin on the classic whodunnit genre, while still feeling fresh as it is set in space with a more epic nature as peace between two vast interstellar empires is at stake. The Klingons want to make peace with the Federation to end decades of hostility. Unfortunately, there are those out there that do not want this hostility to end and they try to frame Kirk and McCoy for the murder of a Klingon ambassador. I will not give out ...

The Wrath of Khan

Advantages: It has humour and humanity
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...---------------- Rel eased in 1982, STAR TREK II - THE WRATH OF KHAN is a sequel to both STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE (released in 1979), and the episode 'Space Seed' from the first season of the original TV show STAR TREK. The first movie had not been well received by the critics, although it did quite well at the box office. Unfortunately its gross was not good enough for the studio in comparison for its budget so with the second movie they ...
...-------------------------------- THE DIRECTOR -------------------------------- STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN was directed by Nicholas Meyer, who also contributed to the writing of the script. Meyer would later return to the STAR TREK fold as writer of the 4th movie, and writer/director of the 6th. ------------------------------------------ MY VIEWS ON THE FILM ------------------------------------------ The slow moving STAR TREK: THE MOTION ...
