Doom and Gloom
Advantages: Sound/Audio, Special Effects Disadvantages: cop out from the game, not enough monsters, story, unoriginal
...Back in the early 90's Doom was at the forefront of the gaming world. With much better graphics and game play (including network play) than most other games. Players could immerse themselves in the world of a Marine fighting demon's from Hell, on Mars. Then in late 2004 we had some more of the same with Doom3, only with bigger better graphics and a more refined storyline (even if the game was a bit linear).
Amongst gamers, the idea that there would ... ...story of the game (particularly Doom 3) was fairly simple. You are on a tour of duty at the UAC facilities on Mars, when they access a portal to hell and let all sorts of demons out, and you basically run around killing any demon that moves before descending into Hell to have a go at the boss himself. This was the kind of story I would have liked seen to port over to the film. Dark dingy corridors, masses of monsters and demons coming at you before ...

Always Judge a Man By the Quality of His Enemies
Advantages: Intelligent return of the series' most popular villains. Disadvantages: Weak moments in the final part, contrived cliffhangers.
...the long-running feud between the Doctor and the mutated killing machines to a conclusive finale, just in time for the show's sudden cancellation a year later. The most iconic villains of Doctor Who, the Daleks first appeared as early as the second serial in 1963, although this twenty-fifth anniversary special (of sorts) opts instead to revisit the location of the very first episode ever produced, 'An Unearthly Child.'
As an unofficial anniversary ... ...that information. As a late Doctor Who episode, when the series was in a state of creative and popular decline, 'Remembrance of the Daleks' is actually a surprisingly enjoyable story, especially for managing to pull off yet another Dalek plot and make it interesting. The pepper-pot menace was effectively re-introduced in the classic Tom Baker-era story 'Genesis of the Daleks,' complete with less than subtle Nazi overtones and an ugly, maniacal leader ...

A Great Dalek Action Episode
Advantages: A great dalek story Disadvantages: drags a bit
Doctor Who, Genesis Of The Daleks is one of the better dalek stories.
The story starts when the doctor is transported to the planet of Skaro by the timelords who wish the doctor to change the future by destroying the daleks. After finding his companions, the doctor and harry are captured by the Kaleds, a race who are at war with the thals. Sarah is captured by the thals after being discovered by mutants known as the mutos. All three try to escape ... ...time ring, their only way of escaping Skaro. But he must defeat Davros, evil creator of the daleks and prevent the daleks from ever being created.
The story is an original one but it does drag abit. But one of the good things about this story that it allows more dalek action and it reveals how the daleks were created.
The special effects are wicked. The daleks were great. The ray gun effects were really good. Also the sets and locations were also ...

THE JOURNEY OF JEN
Advantages: It's a mysterious, magical fantasy Disadvantages: It is actually creepy in parts!
The Dark Crystal - Collectors Edition.
I loved this film as a child. I remember being both intrigued and fascinated by the elf-like fantasy, and also scared and left a little confused from the creepy skeksis!
I have this on video and it was by strange coincidence I was chatting to someone about the film, so imagine my delight when I picked the Special Collectors Edition up from ASDA at £5.67. Yes, it really was that low!
#Background
The film ... ...follows closely to a mythical, dark storyline where there is a fantastical journey to save the land from evil. The film involves adventure, friendship, trust, loyalty, bravery, and fantasy-fiction.
The film is rated PG and runs approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. Even though the film involves puppets I must issue a caution for there are some small creepy parts.
There is a warning on the DVD case: "contains mild horror".
The films released under ...

A real revelation
Advantages: Peri, Davros and the dark horror element. Disadvantages: Some hammy acting.
I have found this story to be one of the most difficult to rate in the Dr Who series. The storyline is very good. An almost macabre, black comedy, coupled with some irritating characters. Take the story as a whole and it reads very favourably. The Tardis lands on Necros, the home of Tranquil Repose, a funeral home for the galaxy's richest people. For some strange reason there are Daleks all over the place and a mysterious character called the Great ... ...Alexi Sayle as the DJ is a strange choice and the character of Kara, is almost Shakespearean and a trifle annoying. The way she goes about hiring the mercenary Orcini to kill the Great Healer, is majestic thespianism at its best.
This story has been criticised in the past because of the amount of gruesome violence, but it only succeds in emphasising the horror of what is going on at Tranquil Repose and the work of the Great Healer. When it turns ...
