Stargate SG1 - Season 1
Advantages: Gripping, addictive, plenty too watch, perfect in most ways Disadvantages: expensive and may take up most of your days for the next while
...a massive fan of the Stargate franchise since my older brother brought home the first season box set a couple of years ago and we sat down to watch it nearly every day.
Ok, so first I’ll begin with an explanation of the Stargate SG1 universe. Here goes. Humans are a the next step in the evolutionary path of a race of aliens known as the ‘Ancients’. They were a massively advanced race both in technoligy and mentaly who existed millions of years ... ...a device known as the Stargate that is capable of near instantanious travel between two of the devices usually situated on different planets though sometimes appear in space. So when the Ancients ascended they left behind stargates on thousands of worlds. Next we have a parasitic race known as the goa’uld which are symbiotes that burrow into a host body and take control of it usually enhanncing its abilities. But these symbiotes are all egomaniacs ...

Parallel Universes! enough said
Advantages: Every Changing Locations Disadvantages: Bit cheesy at times
Sliders was a great concept where a student scientist creates a sliding device where he can teleport to various parallel universes where its the same year but where certain events being different the outcomes in that world reflect that.
I enjoy seeing where the gang end up next, and getting John Rhys-Davies to play as proffesor Arturo was just ingenius. You can't help but think your watching Lord of the Rings by mistake. The episodes get better ... ...any good tv series. Sliders isn't great with modern days special effects, but in its day it was right up there with effects and i still think its a great watch and will always be remembered as a classic.
There are 6 discs which contain a total of 22 episdoes. There are also Bonus features such as the making of sliders, and a photo Gallery
Audio commentary from the creaters is also a bonus option
This film would suit people who like adventures ...

Stargate goes full circle and revists the pilot episode
Advantages: new special effects, new soundtrack, presented as a feature film Disadvantages: important plot point removed
...I do wonder. When the Stargate movie came out it was an instant favourite of mine - it combined my love of ancient history (especially Egyptian mythology) with some great science fiction and plenty of military action. Perfect. Three years later speculation of whether they got home at the end of the film was confirmed as a TV series was produced with the first feature length pilot episode being titled "Children of the Gods" and once more they continued ... ...10 years of SG-1 TV episodes and two straight-to-DVD movies (so far) they decided to revisit the "Children of the Gods" story to recut it to produce a "tighter" story with some unused footage also included, redone CGI shots, and a brand new score which was no longer borrowed from the movie. For the most part it was great to watch this again and I liked what they did with it, what does disappoint me however is that they changed the ending so that ...

You Look Like a Radioactive Tampon
Advantages: Great Direction and Acting Disadvantages: Too Slow for some
Moon reminds me a lot of those big weighty Sci-fi films of the seventies where it was all about atmosphere, storyline and your imagination rather than riotous special effects and wise cracking aliens. This film is utterly beguiling, its tense but strangely relaxing, all of these is down to two men, the director Duncan Jones and the star Sam Rockwell. This is Jones' first feature film and its an incredibly impressive debut, he eschewed using his father ... ...it is a really fantastic film which is a credit to him. Starring Sam Rockwell as Sam, the only worker on an automated lunar mining complex. He has been working on his own for nearly three years and nearing the end of his term in space he feels lonely, isolated and confused....as anyone would, I imagine. With only a droid, Gerty (Voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company, Sam is alone and starts to feel a world apart from Earth, he feels he is alone but ...
