Series 3 starts to solidify in the middle

Advantages: Great acting and writing
Disadvantages: Episodes spoilt by the subplot context

...third series of the modern Doctor Who gives us 4 episodes, two of which are a double-episode tale involving the Doctor's long serving arch enemies, the Daleks. With the first three episodes having set the scene with the emergence of Martha Jones as the Doctor's new companion, I was read for some gritty episodes that the writers could get their teeth stuck into. The Episodes The first two episodes are Daleks in Manhattan and Evolution of the Daleks. ...
...but the second story. The Doctor and Martha return to the present, and they are on the verge of parting company when gets an invitation from her sister to the unveiling of Dr Lazarus' life changing experiment. Curious, the Doctor tags along, where the revelation of Lazarus' genetic modifier causes concern and unleashes a strange monstrosity. At the same time, someone has become curious about the Doctor, and has made contact with Martha's family for ...

Fantastically lags story wise

Advantages: Some good special effects and CGI
Disadvantages: Too slow, not enough of a story, lost interest before the end

...was one that featured a Fantastic 4 cartoon, so I was somewhat familiar with the characters and I do like a good fantasy type movie every now and then, so I thought I'd give this a watch. I'm glad I didn't purchase the DVD, it wouldn't have been worth it. - Main Credits (non-actors, which are mentioned further on in the review) - Source:- IMDB (see:-http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120667/fullcredits) Director - Tim Story Written by - Mark Frost and ...

Stargate SG1 - Season 1

Advantages: Gripping, addictive, plenty too watch, perfect in most ways
Disadvantages: expensive and may take up most of your days for the next while

...a massive fan of the Stargate franchise since my older brother brought home the first season box set a couple of years ago and we sat down to watch it nearly every day. Ok, so first I’ll begin with an explanation of the Stargate SG1 universe. Here goes. Humans are a the next step in the evolutionary path of a race of aliens known as the ‘Ancients’. They were a massively advanced race both in technoligy and mentaly who existed millions of years ...
...a device known as the Stargate that is capable of near instantanious travel between two of the devices usually situated on different planets though sometimes appear in space. So when the Ancients ascended they left behind stargates on thousands of worlds. Next we have a parasitic race known as the goa’uld which are symbiotes that burrow into a host body and take control of it usually enhanncing its abilities. But these symbiotes are all egomaniacs ...

Bad science and even worse plot

Advantages: Great effects
Disadvantages: No plot at all really, HUGE science goofs.

There is no real plot in this movie as such, a group of 5 people go into space, aquire powers and 4 of them use them for good while the 5th uses them for evil until the other 4 decide to stop him. I know its a really short summation but thats the ENTIRE film in just that sentance! None of the main characters are really given any kind of introduction. At least in Spiderman and X-Men there is some kind of character outlining. Their powers are acquired ...
...They get into space too easily, the mission isn't explained. Why Victor Doom is aboard, no reason given. This is an excuse to put Jessica Alba into a low cut top to show us her cleavage. The scenes in the mountains where the powers are first shown like Human Torch's flame on. Totally pointless and there for thrill value only. Why each member gets the particular power they do, they were all hit by the same rays but all get different powers? The "cloud" ...
