...film in its own right Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of my favourites of the series so far. This film is much darker than the others, the wizarding world has now admitted that Voldemort is back and Harry has to realise his ties with Voldemort more than ever before. Despite being a much darker film it is also more comedic than many of the others. The strong theme of romance and various different love stories give the film much needed ... ...are hilarious. The acting is of an excellent standard and Jim Broadment makes a welcome addition to the cast as Professor Slughorn. This film contains less action than many of the others, largely to focus upon the storyline and retell the wealth of information revealed in this book. ...you will remember for long. The fall is directed by Tarsem Singh and stars Lee Pace as the main protagonist. Alexandria is a small girl living in a catholic hospital for his fractured arm where she meets an injured stuntman named Roy who agrees to tell her a story of 5 mysterious heroes trapped in an island who are looking to kill Prince Odius. Injured Roy needs morphine from the hospital pharmacy and asks Alexandria to steal it for him if she wants ... ...go to any extent. The film is fascinating to say the least.It does remind you of Pan's Labyrinth(just because of the whole fairy tale meets reality factor,nothing else). As the story proceeds we realise that Roy borrows a lot from reality and the story is actually a blend of both fantasy and reality. Review of The Fall
The fifth Harry Potter film...the effects got better, the performances are amazing but the storyline isn't that brilliant. The pressure of making the Harry Potter films better and better is immense, but it didn't work that well this time.
Story
The film starts off in Little Whinging. Harry is in a park when his cousin Dudley comes across with his mates to tease Harry about numerous things, including his parents. The atmosphere goes from ... ...mates take off, leaving Harry and Dudley in the park. As the rain comes, the take shelter in the underpass when they are confronted by the Dementors. They perform the "Dementors Kiss" on Dudley and Harry tries to fight them off with the "Expecto Patronum" charm. Advantages: Brilliant suspense and atmosphere, beautiful picture and a quality True HD soundtrack, good extras. Disadvantages: Only 84 minutes long which might seem short to some, questionable ending.
...and thriller films, but when Cloverfield came on to the horizon with some tongue-wetting teasers, I had to check it out. I personally hadn't heard of the films main stars Michael Stahl-David, Odette Yustman and T.J. Miller, among others, and therefore wasn't expecting the top Hollywood film that Cloverfield ended up being.
The film's style is far different than anything I've witnessed before, which in my opinion is a good thing as it introduces ... ...majority of Cloverfield is shot through a High Definition Camcorder and this allows the events of the film to be viewed through one of the characters perspectives. The result of a camcorder being used brings a rather shaky feel to the film which is a bit like marmite; you either love it or hate it! I Am Legend.
I remember watching the original film 'The Omega Man', starring Charlton Heston. It was a bit poor and massively different from the book.
This latest version starring Will Smith is slightly different from the book but closer to the mark.
~The story~
Robert Neville is the last 'Normal' human alive in the city of Los Angeles and possibly the last in the world.
His mind is constantly prayed upon with doubts ... ...There is apparently newer things on the way such as Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks, so even this may soon be surpassed.
Worth the money and a film to be watched again and again
All in all a movie I enjoyed.
