Darker and yet funnier than the previous films.

Advantages: Amazing special effects. Excellent acting.
Disadvantages: Unfaithful to the book in parts.

...film in its own right Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of my favourites of the series so far. This film is much darker than the others, the wizarding world has now admitted that Voldemort is back and Harry has to realise his ties with Voldemort more than ever before. Despite being a much darker film it is also more comedic than many of the others. The strong theme of romance and various different love stories give the film much needed ...
...are hilarious. The acting is of an excellent standard and Jim Broadment makes a welcome addition to the cast as Professor Slughorn. This film contains less action than many of the others, largely to focus upon the storyline and retell the wealth of information revealed in this book. In order to create more action there are several scenes in the film which do not appear in the book. Some I think work well (the dementors destroying the millenium bridge ...

You have to be careful when reading these opinions because although the title refers to the special edition of this disc I noticed that some of the opinions are talking about the limited edition edition. In a wonderful attempt to make money out a popular film Columbia Tri-star have released two versions both with 'Special' style titles. The first being 'Men In Black Special Edition', a title usually reserved for the second release of a film. To clear ...
...cover, featuring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. This itself is an excellent DVD containing not only the usual Trailers and Character profiles but a host of other interesting features. There is a wonderful on-screen commentry with director Barry Sonnenfeld and Tommy Lee Jones. You can see thier sillouetes at the bottom of the screen and they even draw circles on the screen around what they are talking about. It's all very interesting, although there ...

Twice the Adventure

Advantages: Jamie, good plot, great acting, excellent characters
Disadvantages: None

I'm a Doctor Who fan. I have been since I was little. I remember hiding behind the sofa the very first time the Daleks climbed the stairs! While I like the new series, the old series will forever hold a place in my affections. For those who've somehow missed the phenomenon, Dr Who is the story of an alien known only as The Doctor. He travels around space and time in his machine, known as the TARDIS, which takes the shape of a police box and is larger ...
...they're robots. The Doctor also has the ability to change his entire physical appearance and personality. When he is about to die, he regenerates, which essentially means that the BBC hire a new actor to play the role. That may sound like a bit of a cheat, but it's come to work extremely well for them. The Two Doctors is a story involving the meeting of two different regenerations of the Doctor. There had been previous team ups, The Three Doctors ...

...1988: "I'm fed up. Star Trek was meant to be MY series, MINE. I was the star. First billed. I was the one who was meant to get all of the girls and who the series was meant to be based around. But instead that SOB Leonard Nimoy got too much credit. Just for sticking on some pointy ears and pretending to have no emotions. When the show finished he got straight onto a starring role on Mission Impossible, and I got to do hardly anything and even had ...

The outsider

Advantages: Surprisingly watchable, David Bowie is beautiful to watch

...who comes to Earth in the hope that he can save his rapidly deteriorating planet and his family. Having arrived with nothing, he quickly builds up his finances and soon becomes a wealthy businessman, able to do anything he wants. He becomes accustomed to earthly pleasures, especially drink and sex with his lover, Mary-Lou, but his plan is still to go back home at some point. There are those that have other ideas though. It soon becomes clear to the ...
...if I possibly can. However, the combination of director Nicholas Roeg, responsible for Walkabout, one of my favourite films, and David Bowie, my all time favourite musician, was a little too tempting to turn down. David Bowie isn't exactly known for his acting skills - he has received very mixed opinions about his acting career - but I thought he was great in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and, if nothing else, I at least had the opportunity to look ...
