Captain Ahab chases his White Whale!

Advantages: Excellent acting, good story, great effects
Disadvantages: None from me or hubby

...Contact is part of the Star Trek series and we see Patrick Stewart playing the role of Captain Jean Luc Picard. At the start of the film he is having a dream about when he was taken by the Borg and turned into one of them. He soon awakes from this dream and finds Star Fleet are asking him to take his ship to an area where they would like them to watch that things are still quiet. When they arrive in this area they find a problem. They arrive to find ...
...much more so than the Star Wars films and the makers of the film seemed to have looked to the future and used props and items which they believe could become a reality this is why me and hubby enjoy Star Trek so much. Patrick Stewart does a wonderful job in the role of Captain Picard and he really does make his character so believable. I do like the fact that in this film he is holding a grudge against the Borg and he is after revenge as this shows ...

X2:united

Advantages: Continues with an already loved story.
Disadvantages: Differs very subtly from the original comic book

...been a fan of the X-Men since i was a small child, starting with the animated series and then eventually the comic book. X-men introduced us to the characters, but X2 captures them so well that, co-creator, Stan Lee would be proud. Also introducing some new characters that will make fans happy. The returning cast who made these characters their own in the first film, are even better in X2. With the story focusing more on Hugh Jackman's Wolverine ...

After his brief encounter with a mutant assassin, Nightcrawler, the president grants William Stryker, a rogue army colonel with a desire to destroy mutants, permission to enter the Xavior Institute, Wolverine conects Styker to his amnesa. Also, while visiting Magneto in his, especially designed, plastic prison, designed by Stryker, Cyclops and The Professor are taken. The remaining X-men, Wolverine, Storm, and Jean, and a few ...

You Look Like a Radioactive Tampon

Advantages: Great Direction and Acting
Disadvantages: Too Slow for some

Moon reminds me a lot of those big weighty Sci-fi films of the seventies where it was all about atmosphere, storyline and your imagination rather than riotous special effects and wise cracking aliens. This film is utterly beguiling, its tense but strangely relaxing, all of these is down to two men, the director Duncan Jones and the star Sam Rockwell. This is Jones' first feature film and its an incredibly impressive debut, he eschewed using his father ...
...it is a really fantastic film which is a credit to him. Starring Sam Rockwell as Sam, the only worker on an automated lunar mining complex. He has been working on his own for nearly three years and nearing the end of his term in space he feels lonely, isolated and confused....as anyone would, I imagine. With only a droid, Gerty (Voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company, Sam is alone and starts to feel a world apart from Earth, he feels he is alone but ...

Sometimes, Ignorance is bliss

Advantages: clever thriller, good story, well acted
Disadvantages: bit depressing?

Dont misunderstand my review title, this is a cracking film. You can nearly always say that about Nicolas Cage films, but this one really is! The premise is simple. There are many disasters happening on earth, for some reason, aliens decide to warn mankind about the upcoming disasters by "whispering" them to a little girl in the 1950's. Unfortuneately, that girl does nothing with the information other than write it down on a bit of paper and allow ...
...capsule. The capsule is dug up in the current day and discovered by Nicolas Cage's character. He soon discovers the code in the series of numbers written on the page and works out that the code tells of impending disasters, when they will happen, how many will die and the location. The story continues on along this path, with a worrying fortelling of the end of days. We don't know what will happen right until the end. I wont ruin it for you either, ...
