Darker and yet funnier than the previous films.

Advantages: Amazing special effects. Excellent acting.
Disadvantages: Unfaithful to the book in parts.

...film in its own right Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of my favourites of the series so far. This film is much darker than the others, the wizarding world has now admitted that Voldemort is back and Harry has to realise his ties with Voldemort more than ever before. Despite being a much darker film it is also more comedic than many of the others. The strong theme of romance and various different love stories give the film much needed ...
...are hilarious. The acting is of an excellent standard and Jim Broadment makes a welcome addition to the cast as Professor Slughorn. This film contains less action than many of the others, largely to focus upon the storyline and retell the wealth of information revealed in this book. In order to create more action there are several scenes in the film which do not appear in the book. Some I think work well (the dementors destroying the millenium bridge ...

Will Smith in the Blu.

Advantages: Stunning film
Disadvantages: Nothing

I Am Legend. I remember watching the original film 'The Omega Man', starring Charlton Heston. It was a bit poor and massively different from the book. This latest version starring Will Smith is slightly different from the book but closer to the mark. ~The story~ Robert Neville is the last 'Normal' human alive in the city of Los Angeles and possibly the last in the world. His mind is constantly prayed upon with doubts ...
...There is apparently newer things on the way such as Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks, so even this may soon be surpassed. Worth the money and a film to be watched again and again All in all a movie I enjoyed. Recommended. Greg. ...

The definitive Alien collection

Advantages: Original and director's cut edition, flawless transfer, every extra you could want
Disadvantages: None

Of all movie monsters, the Alien has to be my favourite and this box set is an esential for anyone who has seen and loved any or all of the four pure Alien movies (dsicounting the Alien/ Predator crossover genre). Having been old enough to have seen the original Alien at the cinema I was pleased that the box set includes the original as well as the new updated and reditied versions of all four of the movies. There are also extras beyond belief and ...
...movies fear not. The redited Alien for example was lovingly crafted by original director Ridley Scott who correctly recognised that a modern cinema audience would find the original somewhat slow paced in places. He has also skillfully added back scenes removed from the original release which, on viewing, are essential to the plot and reveal new charater nuances and tensions that seemed strange and unexplained previously. This set was expensive when ...

Time traveller..or just plain crazy??

Advantages: Can't wait to watch series 2!
Disadvantages: Disappointed when series 1 ended!

...series to watch tonight yipee!!! Life On Mars series one first appeared on our tv screens back in 2006 (apparently) but I missed it first time round as I 'didn't fancy it'. I was working behind a bar at the time, and did the whole barmaid thing of chatting to customers and one used to leave early as he wanted to get home to watch Life On Mars(I would have sky+ it myself but maybe he didn't have it?). Every week he would say how good it was but it ...
...prizes for guessing it was Life On Mars(well to be honest it was series two but it looked so utterly fantastic it made me want to watch it from the beginning). I was literally kicking myself that I had missed it but my luck was in as the next week Virgin1 was to run "the successful BBC series Life On Mars"(thank heavens I have sky tv!). I watched the first 3 episodes but just couldn't wait for the next episode so bought series one and two on dvd..what ...

Lock N Load

Advantages: Superior release compared to previous editions
Disadvantages: None

...one a lavish look. Aliens is the 1986 sequel, to Ridley Scott’s Alien; this time with Terminator director James Cameron at the helm. The last remaining crew member of the Nostromo flies into earth territory the first time in a great many years. Having been awoken by a rescue crew they must get to grips with the fact that they have been travelling for far too long, and that everyone they knew including their family are all dead. Knowing this remaining ...
...Although I enjoy Aliens immensely, for me it does not have the depth that the original movie had; relying more on the action, than the horror or the psychological feel of being alone in space. It’s a much larger effort, with gigantic sets, and breathtaking special effects. At times however the alien effects fail where there are so many aliens you can quite often look at some of them and say “that’s just a guy in an alien suit”. From a very claustrophobic ...
