# "Is This A Kind Of Magic?"....

Advantages: Resonably engaging story, better than the second Highlander
Disadvantages: Some difficulties with the script

...movie…for anyone unfamiliar with the Highlander movies, it’s safe to say that the second outing wasn’t particularly popular with fans and critics alike. So bad was the reaction to ‘The Quickening’ that it’s plots and ideas have essentially never been referred to again in the two subsequent movies, or in the television series that followed. ‘Highlander 3: The Sorcerer’ is an attempt to recover the situation and maintain the lucrative franchise of ...
...that has featured in all Highlander movies is the use of flashbacks to reveal things about Connor. I thought these were done well and do help to set-up themes and offer explanations of certain things that happen elsewhere in the movie. As a device for developing Connor’s character they’re quite effective and interesting to watch. The movie does offer some engaging action sequences, especially in terms of sword fights, although there are relatively ...

Advantages: Bio-Boosting Action Adventure
Disadvantages: Doesn't live up the Manga

The situation escalates as Sean seeks to find destiny as a Guyver and faces off with Crane, perhaps even more powerful than Balcus was, now that he is a Guyver Zoanoid... ---------------------------------------- Now I can hear you thinking, this film is starting in the middle, isn't it? Well the answer is yes but to find out the beginning you'll need to track down a copy of The Guyver or Mutronics ...
...is based on the highly successful Manga comic series written by Yoshiki Takaya, which has also spawned a 12part anime OVA series and the afore mentioned film which stared Mark Hamill and Michael Berryman (from The Hills Have Eyes). Now when we say based on we means extremely loosely in this case. Interestingly David Hayter stars as Sean Barkers, probably best know for being the voice of Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series of games, but David is ...

The film before the series

Advantages: Great effects
Disadvantages: No Amanda Tapping

The best situation to be in would have been to see the movie before the tv series to appreciate the films indepth story. The idea that aliens built Egypt's pyramids and enslaved its people is in the eyes of many very theasable. When i first saw this film i was captured by its explanations of Egyption history and how it was putting a theory of its structure. The tv series that was to follow then became the normal american "situation series" but ...

You Look Like a Radioactive Tampon

Advantages: Great Direction and Acting
Disadvantages: Too Slow for some

Moon reminds me a lot of those big weighty Sci-fi films of the seventies where it was all about atmosphere, storyline and your imagination rather than riotous special effects and wise cracking aliens. This film is utterly beguiling, its tense but strangely relaxing, all of these is down to two men, the director Duncan Jones and the star Sam Rockwell. This is Jones' first feature film and its an incredibly impressive debut, he eschewed using his father ...
...it is a really fantastic film which is a credit to him. Starring Sam Rockwell as Sam, the only worker on an automated lunar mining complex. He has been working on his own for nearly three years and nearing the end of his term in space he feels lonely, isolated and confused....as anyone would, I imagine. With only a droid, Gerty (Voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company, Sam is alone and starts to feel a world apart from Earth, he feels he is alone but ...
