Eighties action film with Arnie

Advantages: Schwarzenegger
Disadvantages: A bit dated looking

...and film and his book, The Running Man is no different. It was released in 1987 and directed by Paul Michael Glaser. The Running Man is set in the near future, where a dictatorial society exists. The economy has collapsed and a small group of revolutionaries try to fight the oppression. During a food riot, Helicopter cop, Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is ordered to fire and kill the rioters. When he resists, he is over powered and his colleagues ...
...called Running Man, hosted by the heartless, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson). This show is used as a means to distract the population from their dreary lives. Richards and other criminals must survive the show as they are hunted by vicious men who kill their targets in cruel ways all in the aid of ratings. I liked this film and thought it was a frightening vision of the future. It was a good story and featured some despicable characters. Arnold Schwarzenegger ...

In search of the Perfect Wife

Advantages: Lots of action?
Disadvantages: Weak plot, very cheesy

...watching, his last suggestion was Cherry 2000 and oh dear what a bad choice! The film starts off with Sam Treadwell, played by David Andrews, enjoying coming home from work to his lovely wife who has his tea ready and the house spotless for him. After tea they end up on the kitchen floor getting 'close' but the sink has been left on and is overflowing. As the water comes onto the floor Cherry, his wife, starts to go crazy and then blows a fuse. ...
...takes Cherry to his friend who works with the androids and he is told that she is not repairable and the model is no longer made. Sam gets the chip from Cherry so if he gets a new model he can insert this chip and she will have all the same memories. Sam learns that there may be a Cherry 2000 model in the robot graveyard which is in Zone 7 and is a very dangerous place to go. Sam goes and hires tracker E Johnson, played by Melanie Griffith, to help ...

TERRIFYING STUFF (FF WO)

Advantages: Good for kids, a good villain
Disadvantages: Dolph Lundgren is terrible, has dated pretty badly

...minions for the title of Masters of the Universe, or something. The Cosmic Key is pretty important to the plot, perhaps that is all you need to know. One of the most amusing highlights of the film, which I failed to pick up on when I was a child, was that the Cosmic Key gets picked up by a musician and his girlfriend, who believe it to be a new Japanese synthesiser. It's a twist that really only belongs in a certain kind of cheesy 80's film. Oh, ...
...The most over-riding aspect of the movie, however, was the sheer terror at seeing Skeletor (Frank Langella) on the screen for the first time. I knew of the existence of Skeletor thanks to the TV cartoon and action figure range (although, as I said, I was never a big fan). But on the big (well, medium-sized) screen, he was a terrifying prospect. My father still likes to remind me that I cried like a baby when Skeletor first came on screen and begged ...

You Look Like a Radioactive Tampon

Advantages: Great Direction and Acting
Disadvantages: Too Slow for some

Moon reminds me a lot of those big weighty Sci-fi films of the seventies where it was all about atmosphere, storyline and your imagination rather than riotous special effects and wise cracking aliens. This film is utterly beguiling, its tense but strangely relaxing, all of these is down to two men, the director Duncan Jones and the star Sam Rockwell. This is Jones' first feature film and its an incredibly impressive debut, he eschewed using his father ...
...it is a really fantastic film which is a credit to him. Starring Sam Rockwell as Sam, the only worker on an automated lunar mining complex. He has been working on his own for nearly three years and nearing the end of his term in space he feels lonely, isolated and confused....as anyone would, I imagine. With only a droid, Gerty (Voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company, Sam is alone and starts to feel a world apart from Earth, he feels he is alone but ...

Sometimes, Ignorance is bliss

Advantages: clever thriller, good story, well acted
Disadvantages: bit depressing?

Dont misunderstand my review title, this is a cracking film. You can nearly always say that about Nicolas Cage films, but this one really is! The premise is simple. There are many disasters happening on earth, for some reason, aliens decide to warn mankind about the upcoming disasters by "whispering" them to a little girl in the 1950's. Unfortuneately, that girl does nothing with the information other than write it down on a bit of paper and allow ...
...capsule. The capsule is dug up in the current day and discovered by Nicolas Cage's character. He soon discovers the code in the series of numbers written on the page and works out that the code tells of impending disasters, when they will happen, how many will die and the location. The story continues on along this path, with a worrying fortelling of the end of days. We don't know what will happen right until the end. I wont ruin it for you either, ...
