Barbarian Goddess
Advantages: Strong story, dialogue and performances Disadvantages: May be too character driven for some
Doctor Who - The Aztecs (1964)
With the recent successful return of this TV series, I was prompted to revisit some of the shows classic adventures. The Aztecs could hardly be considered more classic, being from the first season of the show and the first DVD release from William Hartnell's era as The Doctor. For those that are new to the series I shall explain it's basic premise. The Doctor is a time travelling alien with a pet fascination of Earth. ... ...situations; often dangerous ones. The Doctor has minimal control over where they land (for reasons unexplained), but is clearly very intelligent and scientifically minded. His current companions are Barbara, Ian and Susan. In this adventure, the TARDIS lands in an Aztec temple in fifteenth century Mexico. After Barbara is seen leaving the temple's forbidden and inaccessible centre by the Aztecs she is thought to be the reincarnation of their deity ...

Doctor Who - Dalek Invasion Of Earth DVD
Advantages: Great Story Disadvantages: None
...TARDIS crew of the First Doctor played by William Hartnell and his grandaughter Susan and her two school teachers Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton, and of course the Daleks.
The two school teachers finally find themselves back in London but soon discover that all is not well.
This story benefits greatly from the four regulars who are by this stage really comfortable with each other. The story is split in two almost immediately with Barbara and ... ...the story looking after the Doctor and gets a love interest that slowly develops over the six episodes. For once this works and the Doctors reaction to it is worth waiting for.
The closing scenes are some of the most emotional we would see on Dr Who for a long time and well acted by Hartnell. A fine ending for a companion. For viewers of the new series who want to have a look at Dr Who from the early years, you wouldn't go far wrong with this story.

You Look Like a Radioactive Tampon
Advantages: Great Direction and Acting Disadvantages: Too Slow for some
Moon reminds me a lot of those big weighty Sci-fi films of the seventies where it was all about atmosphere, storyline and your imagination rather than riotous special effects and wise cracking aliens. This film is utterly beguiling, its tense but strangely relaxing, all of these is down to two men, the director Duncan Jones and the star Sam Rockwell. This is Jones' first feature film and its an incredibly impressive debut, he eschewed using his father ... ...it is a really fantastic film which is a credit to him. Starring Sam Rockwell as Sam, the only worker on an automated lunar mining complex. He has been working on his own for nearly three years and nearing the end of his term in space he feels lonely, isolated and confused....as anyone would, I imagine. With only a droid, Gerty (Voiced by Kevin Spacey) for company, Sam is alone and starts to feel a world apart from Earth, he feels he is alone but ...

Sometimes, Ignorance is bliss
Advantages: clever thriller, good story, well acted Disadvantages: bit depressing?
Dont misunderstand my review title, this is a cracking film. You can nearly always say that about Nicolas Cage films, but this one really is! The premise is simple. There are many disasters happening on earth, for some reason, aliens decide to warn mankind about the upcoming disasters by "whispering" them to a little girl in the 1950's. Unfortuneately, that girl does nothing with the information other than write it down on a bit of paper and allow ... ...capsule. The capsule is dug up in the current day and discovered by Nicolas Cage's character. He soon discovers the code in the series of numbers written on the page and works out that the code tells of impending disasters, when they will happen, how many will die and the location. The story continues on along this path, with a worrying fortelling of the end of days. We don't know what will happen right until the end. I wont ruin it for you either, ...
