I am Legend
Review of I Am Legend DVD by amerie86

Advantages: Will Smiths performance
Disadvantages: The ending

I was dubious about seeing I am Legend as I'd heard mixed reports. I was more than pleasantly surprised then to find I actually enjoyed I am Legend. What separates I am Legend from every other zombie movies on the racks at the moment is the depth of Will Smith's character. His portrayal of Robert Neville, a scientist looking for a cure to a modern-day plague created by man will make you laugh and cry with him, jump out of your seat when he gets ...
...heads towards insanity. I was expecting a zombie shoot-em-up and settled into something much more thought provoking and it certainly deserves a look, even if you're not into the undead thing. Overall I am Legend was one of the better movies I've seen lately and therefore gets 5 star ... Read review

I, Robot - a must see!
Review of I, Robot (Definitive Edition) by ilovemonty

Advantages: Entertaining and an insight on technology
Disadvantages: Slighlty dull at times

...can do? Look no further. I, Robots is a mixture of brilliance entertaining qualities that will keep you interested throughout the entire movie. Will Smith places a memorable perfomance as a detective who has a vendetta against robots. As the film unravels, WIll finds himself on a case full of twists and turns that reveal just how technology is once again progressing too quickly for us to keep up with it. Computing imaging plays a great part in the ... Read review

Minority Report/ I Robot
Review of Minority Report / I, Robot (Essential Collection) by eastchristina

Advantages: Two brilliant DVDs!
Disadvantages: Check out whether you can get them cheaper separately...

...satisfying way). I watched Minority Report by myself. Riveted. And loved it. What more can I say? Well, I guess I can say that I watched I Robot with hubby, and we both cried. So I can recommend both of these films - and it seems really logical to buy them together. If you're a girl, you can have a night in with your lad and impress him with your choice of films. And you will like them too! :o) If you're a lad, you can start to convert your partner ...
...and hold her interest. (If you are trying for a conversion, don't be afraid to cry. It's very attractive in a man - trust me!) Best watched with a good red wine and a pizza (and a box of tissues….) Just before you buy - make sure you can't get the films cheaper separately, now that they are a few years old. ... Read review

Cloverfield
Review of Cloverfield DVD by amerie86

Advantages: Special effects
Disadvantages: None I can think of.

Cloverfield is a film about a giant monster attacking Manhattan all seen through the perspective of a 20-something's hand-held camera. The film has been hyped for months. After the initial 15mins of character introduction and whatnot the film does not go 5mins minutes without a WHOA moment. Because it was filmed using a shaky camera Cloverfield was compared to The Blair Witch Project long before it hit the cinemas. Thankfully in Cloverfield the ...
...I think it worked for Cloverfield as the film would have made no sense if they had used big name actors/actresses. The monster itself isn't seen in its entirety and is in fact only seen from different angles, leaving the audience to piece it together just as the survivors themselves are. All in all Cloverfield works. ... Read review

Jumper
Review of Jumper DVD by amerie86

Advantages: Jamie Bell
Disadvantages: Too many to mention

I'm a big sci-fi fan, and was intrigued by the idea for Jumper. Samuel L. Jackson always lends credibility and I was interested to see Hayden Christensen out of his Star Wars robe.I expected good things. I was disappointed to say the least. Plot: Boy discovers he has the power to teleport himself. Boy learns to control his powers. Boy lives idyllic life of leisure and travel until he discovers that people are chasing him, and that he is caught up ...
...who hunt them. Unfortunately, "Jumper" isn't much more than a geography tour. For me, Hayden Christensen reprising the gloomy, wounded, misunderstood, petulant anti-hero role he played so ineffectively in the Star Wars prequels. Samuel L Jackson plays the same character he always does, and for me the star of the movie was Jamie Bell who added some much-needed momentum to the movie. ... Read review
