It's lost the X Factor

Advantages: spooky
Disadvantages: not so interesting these days

The X Files is the award winning American TV show which follows the FBI’s handling of alien cases. Agents Mulder and Scully investigate, and have done for eight previous seasons. Along the way, they become embroiled in the alien activity themselves. Well, I think this show should have ended in season 7. I think they thought it was going to, because they tied up so many loose ends. However, it carried on, and the result is another season where they ...
...No thanks! But that’s how the season starts, and it goes downhill from there. For me, there are only so many times I can get carried away in the emotion and excitement of conspiracies and aliens. I like the idea, but it’s been 8 long years and we’re still going round in circles aren’t we? To be fair, the acting is improving. It’s like Anderson and Duchovny decided to pay for acting lessons after so much time spent in a wooden box that was themselves. ...

Sometimes, Ignorance is bliss

Advantages: clever thriller, good story, well acted
Disadvantages: bit depressing?

Dont misunderstand my review title, this is a cracking film. You can nearly always say that about Nicolas Cage films, but this one really is! The premise is simple. There are many disasters happening on earth, for some reason, aliens decide to warn mankind about the upcoming disasters by "whispering" them to a little girl in the 1950's. Unfortuneately, that girl does nothing with the information other than write it down on a bit of paper and allow ...
...capsule. The capsule is dug up in the current day and discovered by Nicolas Cage's character. He soon discovers the code in the series of numbers written on the page and works out that the code tells of impending disasters, when they will happen, how many will die and the location. The story continues on along this path, with a worrying fortelling of the end of days. We don't know what will happen right until the end. I wont ruin it for you either, ...

Return To Form!

Advantages: Classy return to form, set in the future! very well done!
Disadvantages: should have been an 18 to be its best!

...is I am a big Terminator fan. I loved Terminator 1 and 2. With Terminator 3, they ruined the franchise, it was rubbish on many levels. Terminator salvation is literally the saviour of the fanchise. In the same way that Casino Royale, Batman Begins and others have saved other franchises, the same has happened here. The most thrilling thing is that Terminator Salvation is the first film set in the future. During the war against the Terminators and ...
...as you'd expect from a Terminator film. Sure, Arnie wasn't in it, but perhaps that was a good thing. You can have too much of a good thing after all. Christian Bale does a very good job of being bad-ass and insipiring at the same time. The way its set in the not too distant future, featuring current human weaponry being used against the machines in a nice touch. The picture and sound on the blu ray edition is first rate and makes the scenes with ...

Science defying Madness!

Advantages: easy to watch, reasonably priced, good picture
Disadvantages: very unrealistic

...I remembered her saying she wanted to see it at the cinema, but we never got round to going. I admit, i was a little uninterested as the whole concept seemed a bit ridiculous. If you haven't seen the trailer, then it wont be spoiling it too much that the premise of the film is action orientated and there's physics defying gun play where the main characters make bullets travel in circles and bends in order to kill people they shouldn't be able too. ...
...will be most disappointed. The story line centres around a young chap doing 9-5 in an office job. He's not happy in his work or his life. One day he bumps into Angelina Jolie's character ("Fox") in a chemist she is apparently there to save his life from an assassin, who also killed his father. He is then recruited into "the fraternity" a group of assassins who have been around since ancient times. Killing people according to the interpretations ...

District 9 - you are welcome here

Advantages: visual effects, story telling, characters
Disadvantages: none

District 9 – Blu-Ray Feature Twenty years ago a massive spacecraft came to Earth; it bypassed cities like New York and eventually came to a hover of Johannesburg in South Africa. The spaceship stayed there completely inert for a while until humans managed to enter the ship; inside they discovered over a million locust looking aliens whom they nicknamed prawns. The aliens were malnourished and dying so a decision was made to bring ...
...could live. That area is District 9. Being in such close proximity with Humans it is inevitable that there would be conflict and tension and so it was decided that the aliens would be moved to another camp 200km away from District 9 and so the MNU, who is the company that oversees the camp, has been charged with moving the 1.8 million aliens away to the new camp. The task for putting this into motion is given to Wilkus Van De Merwe (Sharlto Copley) ...
