Reviews of Science Fiction & Fantasy »
Darker and yet funnier than the previous films.
Advantages: Amazing special effects. Excellent acting. Disadvantages: Unfaithful to the book in parts.
...film in its own right Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of my favourites of the series so far. This film is much darker than the others, the wizarding world has now admitted that Voldemort is back and Harry has to realise his ties with Voldemort more than ever before. Despite being a much darker film it is also more comedic than many of the others. The strong theme of romance and various different love stories give the film much needed ... ...are hilarious. The acting is of an excellent standard and Jim Broadment makes a welcome addition to the cast as Professor Slughorn. This film contains less action than many of the others, largely to focus upon the storyline and retell the wealth of information revealed in this book. In order to create more action there are several scenes in the film which do not appear in the book. Some I think work well (the dementors destroying the millenium bridge ...

FANTASTIC!
Advantages: Brilliant stories, fantastic acting. Disadvantages: Cutdown confidentials instead of full episode
The first series of Doctor Who I saw was series 4. I thought it was brilliant and instantly loved it so obviously wanted to watch the rest of the series to see what other amazing stories there were.
To describe the First SEries in one word I would have to say it was FANTASTIC!
Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor is brilliant and Billie Piper as his companion Rose means there's lots of laughs along the way too.
In the first episode ROSE the Doctor ... ...life and travel with the Doctor in his TARDIS.
In the second episode THE END OF THE WORLD they travel to platform one to see the end of Earth. There are loads of different aliens on board and some robot spiders which are trying to destroy the ship they are on and kill everyone.
In the third episode THE UNQUIET DEAD the Doctor takes Rose to Cardiff in 1869 by mistake and they meet Charles Dickens. They also meet a new alien race the Gelth who lost ...

By the halfway point of series 2 the viewing figures for Blakes 7 decimated that of Doctor Who. The BBC had created a second popular sci-fi series and now was screening Blakes 7 and Doctor Who all year round. ITV struggled to produce competition but failed dramatically. The identity of Blakes 7 had finally been set in stone, and in a master stroke of genius ...

Something's in the water and it is'nt limescale
Advantages: Fantastic performance by William Fitchner Disadvantages: Slooooow to start
Invasion is a series penned by the scriptwriter behind the acclaimed American Gothic and is set in and around the small coastal Floridian town of Homestead, on the borders of the everglades national park.
The series has a number of recurring characters, but centers about the awkwardly-extended family comprised of latino Park ranger Russell (Ed Cibrian) and his new wife Larkin (Lisa Sheridan), a local news reporter. They share custody of Russell's ... ...new and disturbing. Invasion rewards your initial investment and by the end of what may very well be the only such season as some executive made the idiotic decision to put it on at a time borderlining Lost, it builds to a thrilling climax that also manages to open additional plotlines that ask even more enduring questions. Acting is uniformly high, but the highest accolade goes unreservedly to Fitchner for his performance as Tom Underlay, the singlemost ...

Firefly: The Show That Could Have Been
Advantages: One of the best shows by Joss Whedon... Disadvantages: ...cancelled before it can get "bigger"
...Ballad of Serenity" FIREFLY The Show That Could Have Been Joss Whedon is one of the few geniuses in the industry right now, and this show, Firefly, was the TV series that got me hooked on all of Joss Whedon's creations. Firefly seamlessly fused the swashbuckling action of the western genre with the intricate mythos of science-fiction. As always, I've read about all the hype around the web first before finally deciding to watch it. I ... ...Anyway, I'm here to review Firefly and not to mope and feel angry for the canned shows. THE DVD Worth every buck I've bought three copies of this DVD when I found them on sale in a Philippine eBay-like website. I bought one for myself, another for my friend who loved Battlestar Galactica so much and wanted a "filler series" when that show was on a hiatus, and the last one was a gift to my sister who wanted to watch a "different" kind ...
