Darker and yet funnier than the previous films.
Advantages: Amazing special effects. Excellent acting. Disadvantages: Unfaithful to the book in parts.
...film in its own right Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of my favourites of the series so far. This film is much darker than the others, the wizarding world has now admitted that Voldemort is back and Harry has to realise his ties with Voldemort more than ever before. Despite being a much darker film it is also more comedic than many of the others. The strong theme of romance and various different love stories give the film much needed ... ...are hilarious. The acting is of an excellent standard and Jim Broadment makes a welcome addition to the cast as Professor Slughorn. This film contains less action than many of the others, largely to focus upon the storyline and retell the wealth of information revealed in this book. In order to create more action there are several scenes in the film which do not appear in the book. Some I think work well (the dementors destroying the millenium bridge ...

Firefly: The Show That Could Have Been
Advantages: One of the best shows by Joss Whedon... Disadvantages: ...cancelled before it can get "bigger"
...Ballad of Serenity" FIREFLY The Show That Could Have Been Joss Whedon is one of the few geniuses in the industry right now, and this show, Firefly, was the TV series that got me hooked on all of Joss Whedon's creations. Firefly seamlessly fused the swashbuckling action of the western genre with the intricate mythos of science-fiction. As always, I've read about all the hype around the web first before finally deciding to watch it. I ... ...Anyway, I'm here to review Firefly and not to mope and feel angry for the canned shows. THE DVD Worth every buck I've bought three copies of this DVD when I found them on sale in a Philippine eBay-like website. I bought one for myself, another for my friend who loved Battlestar Galactica so much and wanted a "filler series" when that show was on a hiatus, and the last one was a gift to my sister who wanted to watch a "different" kind ...

Love... Which Makes The Worlds Go 'Round
Advantages: wonderfully entertaining, detailed enough for enjoyable repeat viewings Disadvantages: sad endings!
...home for Christmas, but The Doctor is still recovering from his latest regeneration and looks to spending this holiday in a coma. It's up to Rose, Jackie, and Mickey to keep him safe until he recovers. Any easy task... until the Sycorax arrive on earth and hold one third of the world's population hostage! It's a "Christmas Invasion", but will the Doctor recover in time to act once more as the Earth's Champion? Favorite quote: "Ahh, not bad for a ... ...a nice man." ~ The Doctor Season two of Doctor Who unwraps itself with like a Christmas cracker... a bit of noise and flash to celebrate some simple fun. Throughout the season, we see Rose coming to terms with some of the less pleasant aspects of time traveling with the Doctor, and their friendship strengthen. This incarnation of the Doctor seems generally happier than the one we were originally introduced to in the first season, and we get the sense ...

Television Gold. A real delight.
Advantages: 18 missing episodes and tons of extra footage. Disadvantages: How can there be any with these treasures
...interested in old shows like Doctor Who again. So they came up with the idea of burning them. In all, this pyromaniac mistake lost permanently 108 Doctor Who episodes. A few from 1963-65, but mainly 1967-69 were destroyed.
During the mid 1970's, the bod's at the beeb, realised that Doctor Who was becoming hugely popular, and they decided to try and get back all the missing stories. Many clips and episodes are held privately and came from all over ... ...is probably the most elusive Doctor Who story of all. The paperback itself is very hard to get hold of, as there was a fire in the warehouse where it was stored and limited stocks remained. This book is worth about £20.
The extras, contain commentary for The Crusade episode 3, by Julian Glover, (King Richard, he also appeared in City of Death, as Scaroth, the last of the Jagoroth), The Daleks' Masterplan, episode 2, Peter Purves, (Steven), Kevin ...

Stargate SG1 - Season 1
Advantages: Gripping, addictive, plenty too watch, perfect in most ways Disadvantages: expensive and may take up most of your days for the next while
...a massive fan of the Stargate franchise since my older brother brought home the first season box set a couple of years ago and we sat down to watch it nearly every day.
Ok, so first I’ll begin with an explanation of the Stargate SG1 universe. Here goes. Humans are a the next step in the evolutionary path of a race of aliens known as the ‘Ancients’. They were a massively advanced race both in technoligy and mentaly who existed millions of years ... ...a device known as the Stargate that is capable of near instantanious travel between two of the devices usually situated on different planets though sometimes appear in space. So when the Ancients ascended they left behind stargates on thousands of worlds. Next we have a parasitic race known as the goa’uld which are symbiotes that burrow into a host body and take control of it usually enhanncing its abilities. But these symbiotes are all egomaniacs ...
