Season 3 of TNG - Where it really kicked off

Advantages: Really stepping up from season 2 will great episodes
Disadvantages: Not too many special features included

...think that season 3 of Star Trek The Next Generation is where the show really came into its own and started to cast off the shadow left by the original series. Season 3 has some terrific science fiction stories told with classic episodes like "Yesterday's Enterprise", "The Defector", "Best Of Both Worlds Part I" and "Sarek" which sees Mark Lenard return as Spocks father. There are 26 episodes this season which last roughly 44 minutes each and for ...
...as with a lot of Star Trek The Next Generation most of the episodes are self contained so will not require a lot of pre-existing knowledge or having to watch previous seasons. I will however recommend buying season 4 aswell as the end cliffhanger from season 3 in "Best Of Both Worlds" is widely considered one of the best in science fiction still after all these years. Main Cast List: Captain Picard - Patrick Stewart Commander Riker - Jonathon ...

The last in the Star Trek movie series... so far

Advantages: The 'Next Generation' crew all return
Disadvantages: Poor storyline

The 10th film in the STAR TREK movie series, NEMESIS is also the final one to date, and is the 4th to feature the 'Next Generation' crew, led by Captain Picard, played by Patrick Stewart. The film sees a Romulan clone of Picard's, called Shinzon, seek revenge and threaten the destruction of the Federation with a powerful new weapon. Shinzon is played by Tom Hardy, most recently seen as Bill Sikes in BBC's new adaptation of OLIVER TWIST, broadcast ...
...Kirk's nemesis in the second Star Trek movie, but unfortunately the character comes across simply as virtually a pantomime villain. Patrick Stewart and the rest of the regular cast perform admirably in the face of a poor script, and the character progression that Data has gone through in the previous films is taken to its final conclusion in a scene which (although I won't spoil it here) had me shouting at the screen that the filmmakers would make ...

To boldly go at Warp Speed!!!

Advantages: The episodes relatie to a single subject - time travel
Disadvantages: A bit heavy on the Next Generation stories

...for a review of the Star Trek: Time Travel Collection DVD box set. ---What's it all about then?--- The theme of this box set is a particularly good theme that has been used to different angles within the Star Trek universe, that of Time Travel, something that always appears in every flavour of Star Trek including the films on more than one occasion. The set comprises of the following episodes: 'Tomorrow is Yesterday' The City on the Edge of Forever' ...
...the set is a little Star Trek Next Generation heavy the episodes are memorable not because of the time travel, but because of the problems that travelling in time causes. I personally don't have any experience of this but for example the episode Yesterdays Enterprise has the Enterprise- C appear through a spatial anomaly and thus changes the present into an alternate timeline where characters are reborn, attitudes are different and the Enterprise ...

TNG Season 4 - My personal favourite

Advantages: So much cheaper than the larger TNG alternatives
Disadvantages: Not the most special features

Season 4 of Star Trek The Next Generation is probably my personal favourite. It has a multitude of classic trek episodes and starts with probably the most famous and tense season resolutions in the Star Trek universe with the second part of "Best Of Both Worlds". Most of the main cast get their own episodes in this season so the stories are nice and varied. Even though this season is quite a few years old now a lot of the stories told still feel ...
...of slimline boxsets to the Star Trek franchise is definately a good move. I had bought a few of the larger sets and was always annoyed at the price and the fact that they never really fit into my collection. Of course now I do not have this problem so I can finish off buying all of the others. There are not too many special features however apart from some featurettes. These are nice to watch but I would have also like some commentary tracks to ...
