himself, who wrote his famous Trout quintet when he was 22 years old, and then from five young artists of the highest rank. They pick up the spirit of Schubert's music magnificently, both in preparation and rehearsal, and in their 1969 performance of the work, which has become one of the most remembered ever given. The Greatest Love and the Greatest Sorrow is a film which sets out to bring the viewer closer, not to the details of Schubert's life, but to the spirit of what he was trying to express with what he called his creative gift and with which he tried to brighten the world. The film begins with the funeral of Beethoven, at which Schubert was a torch-bearer, and the story is told almost entirely in music that Schubert wrote in the twenty months that remained to him after that date, together with quotations from his letters and diaries and the words that he chose to set in some of his songs.

Advantages: Everything you could want in a TV show Disadvantages: None
...To try and put the greatest hits of The Simpsons onto one disc is foolhardy. There are so many classic, touching, hilarious episodes people love that if they did do a greatest hits package it would be so long that it wouldn't be able to fit on anyone's shelves, that is the quality of this show.
So this DVD, part of "The Simpsons Classics", contains 4 episodes, each accredited with some sort of landmark. We have "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", which was the very first episode and deals with Homer not getting his Christmas bonus, but in the end gets something much better. There's the 100th episode "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baddasssss Song" where Bart gets Principal Skinner when he brings Santa's Little Helper into school for show and tell day. There's also "Bart Gets an F" which had the highest ever ratings in America for a Simpsons...

Advantages: Marvelous videos Disadvantages: Not any interviews with the band apart from DVD ROM
...I thought it was time I reviewed Duran Durans greatest on DVD.
This is a two disk set and also a region 0 that means it can play on any DVD player.
The packaging on this is very nice and quite simple, white box and when you open it up bars of colour on the inlay covers. The disks have no fancy pictures on but are nice silver disks with Greatest I or II on them.
As you put either of the disks on the menu has GREATEST and you can navigate through the letters on each disk that bring you into the menu of songs or features for that letter on each disks. Very clever.
All of the songs are the original music videos unless I state otherwise.
I shall take you through what is on it :
Disk 1
The letter R contains:
Planet Earth. This is one of their first videos on one of the earliest videos that was released and shown on top...

Advantages: Ok sports biopic Disadvantages: True storyish..
...If you want someone to make a sports movie then let it be Disney, by far the best at this genre. They are tricky movies to make and America are the only ones to really achieve in the field, so to speak. The less said about British sports movies the better. The real sports events themselves are a far better idea for drama here so we leave well alone. Films like Goal and When Saturday Comes are wasting everyone's time.
Outside of team sports like Gridiron, Basketball and Baseball that have enjoyed hundreds of cool movies between them in America golf has faired the best to make entertaining movies,' The Greatest Game Ever Played' another good effort. The thing with golf is that you can make a comedy too, Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore to name but two. They even made a chick flick out of the sport that women name as the most boring...
