I have decided to review 'The School of Rock' film having recently watched it. The School of Rock is an American film released in the United Kingdom on February 6th 2004. The film comes under the comedy and musical genres. This film was directed by Richard Linklater and stars Jack Black. This movie is a PG. Running time of this movie is one hundred and eight minutes (twelve minutes short of two hours),
Wannabe rock star , Dewey , is 'sacked' from his band and because he has many bills to pay and is down in the dumps , he feels he needs to get out there and find a job. So , he becomes a substitute teacher at a private school. What will happen when Dewey takes his 'rock and roll' attitude to the private school ? Watch School Of Rock To Find Out!
On first impression , this film didn't look my cup of tea at all. My friend had the DVD and was going on about how brilliant it was and offered to lend me the DVD. Eventually I gave in and took the DVD home with me. Not really bothered about whether I watched this film or not , I still managed to watch it and have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
The character which stood out for me was Dewey. At first I thought he was a real 'lazy fat pig' but as the movie progressed I began to like him. I thought it was funny that he , as the total opposite of 'posh' was sent to teach at a private school. I thought it was quite sad that he couldn't let go of his dream. They plot isn't realistic at all ; I mean as if a school would allow a real 'lazy , rock star with no qualifications' look after and teach a class of seven year olds ?! Although it does make good entertainment.
Although I enjoyed this film to a certain extent , I wouldn't really say it was 'up there' with my favourite films such as Titanic , Atonement and 27 Dresses . Yes , it's entertaining and should keep the kids quiet for a while , but it's not genius or well put together. I could watched it once or twice although I don't think I could watch it a few times. There are some funny lines in it though.
Thanks For Reading!
