SCHOOL OF ROCK is a hilarious romp that parents will enjoy as much as their children. Jack Black stars as Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who doesn't seem to be rocking much of...
more...anything these days. Kicked out of the band that he started and about to be kicked out of his apartment, Dewey pretends that he's his roommate Ned Schneebly (Mike White) in order to take a job as a substitute teacher. Arriving at an ultra conservative--and ultra expensive--prep school, Dewey manages to fool the uptight principal (Joan Cusack). Soon, he finds himself in a classroom with a bunch of fifth graders. Obviously, Dewey has no intentions of teaching these kids anything, but when he discovers that a handful of them are talented musicians, a light bulb goes off in his head. Determined to enter the local battle of the bands and win $25,000, Dewey embarks on his greatest mission of all: Teaching these kids how to rock!
Director Richard Linklater (DAZED AND CONFUSED, WAKING LIFE) delivers his most universally appealing film with SCHOOL OF ROCK. Written specifically for Black by screenwriter/actor White, this outrageously entertaining crowd-pleaser elevates Black to superstar status.

This is a great film by Jack Black. It starts with his band throwing him out because of the latest of many riotous guitar solos, and to make some money, he takes a job as a school teacher under the name of his friend Ned.

This allows him to start over to try and get the kids into rock music and then go for the battle of the bands. Whilst getting use to the school, he finds that they can play music and then has the idea of getting them to rock.

With this idea in his head, he then starts his own teaching style to rock, from the history of Led Zeppelin to present. With this, the homework that he gives out is to listen to CD that corresponds to each person.

With this winning collection of people, they make it to the final play, and they play there new song whilst back at the school they have just found out that their children are missing.

After the contest and Jacks band not winning, but get to play again, the band sticks together and has a rock school where they practice and teach younger children to rock.

The kids make the film besides Jack going crazy. The quotes that they come out with are excellent, as I couldn’t stop laughing all the way through. Since getting the film, I have watched it 10 times and still find it funny.

The script was great, as I don't think that they could have made it any better and if they changed it in a major way, I don't think that they would have got a great film.

The features on the DVD are as normal, interviews with the kids and Jack, commentaries from Jack, the director and the kids. Lessons in school of rock, music video and the kids diary.

It also includes MTV’s diary of Jack, and in my opinion fantastic and a trailer as normal. The extras I would have expected buy then I would have thought there may have been a few more, but then you can't win them all.

I would highly recommend this film as it is one of the best yet.
