I am a great fan of any film from the horror and comedy genres and so as soon as i heard about a new spoof horror film on its way to the cinemas, i decided that the aptly titled 'Scary Movie' was a must-see!!
Last night myself and my boyfriend finally got round to hiring it from the video shop and i knew straight from the beginning that it was going to be one of those movies that make you scream with laughter!! However,, after the first 10 minutes i was completely lost with the storyline and was questioning whether there even was one at all!!
You can work out that it is a spoof and i managed to recognise all the bits from the different horror movies. It had references to -
Scream, Scream 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Matrix, Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, Halloween H2O.
You really need to have seen at least Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer to understand any of the gags in this film as it tended to be based around these 2 films the most. Luckily i have seen 6 out of 7 of the above films so i could follow each individual scene.
Personally i found this film to be more like a sketch show than a movie as each scene didnt seem to connect with the next, leaving me wondering whether there was a plot to Scary Movie or whether it was just me who didnt understand how the film worked!!
Overall it is hilariously funny and anyone who watches it will definitely be needing a change of underwear when the 95 minutes or so are over! The film itself is rude in parts, crude in humour but also ridiculously funny!
The only familiar face you will see in this movie is that of actress Carmen Electra, All the other members of the cast are young, up and coming hollywood stars and in my opinion they have already proved themselves of that in Scary Movie.
The acting, casting and comedy were all amzingly good and every scene had me in tears but also had me in fits of frustration and confusion over what the hell was going on!! There seemed to be absolutely NO plot or storyline at all and this fact was driving me mad!!!
I would recommend this film to anyone who has seen at least 2 of the films that it uses references from and also loves a good laugh!! It is definitely not for people who need a good storyline as there is no appearance of one in this film at all and this to me got VERY frustrating and by the end i was so confused that i couldnt think straight!!!
Overall this is an extremely funny film and great for fun but i definitely wouldnt watch it for the plot!!!
