As soon as i saw the trailors for the film i knew i had to go and see it. I am already a big fan of teen-slasher horror movies and spoof films, so a film that combines the two has got to be a must see. The one thing i would point out is that you need to have watched atleast ONE scream film and possibly 'I know what you did last summer' to really enjoy the plot and understand the jokes. As most people have, this review won't be a problem.
One noticable point about the movie is the lack of 'Hollywood' stars. The most famous face in this film to most people is Carmen Electra (Baywatch) and even she is only in the first 10 minutes (oops, have i given a little bit of the plot away). Other than Carmen the actors are Shannon Elizabeth, Jon Abrahams, Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans. None of which are well known but all give a strong performance and make the film as funny as it could be, i would be guessing that we'll be seeing a lot more of these actors in the future.
The main plot is a little scatty. It sort of divides itself with 'Scream' and 'I know what you did last summer'. From these two films is where the main plot comes from e.g they run down a bloke on a road who they then throw into a river and vow never to mention the accident ever again. Ofcourse this is done in a hilairious fashion that will having you wetting your pants in no time. Then you have plenty of 'chase them then slash 'em' scenes avec loads of slamming doors, screaming teens...oh i did i mention the granny that gets thrown down the stairs at the killer? That's a classic! The killer wears a mask and cloak very similar to the one used in scream films and his weapon varies from a dagger (scream) and a hook (I.K.W.Y.D.L.S). The other comparisons come fast and furious.
If you have seen films like 'Airplane' and 'Hot Shots' and liked them then you will love the humour of the film even if it's a little more sexier, ruder and cruder. Every scene has it's funny moment(s) and the film will have you in stitched from start to finish. Some of the best scenes are:
The killer is running after one of the teenagers up a huge filght of stairs and she tries to throw everything at him to slow him down - vases, bicycles and...her grandmother!
Officer Doofy (copying Officer Dewy in Scream) is hilarious and very well played. Armed with his water pistol, back pack, cardboard cut-out police officers badge and ill-fitting uniform, this man should not be taken seriously! A great scene is where he comes out of his bedroom with a hard-on and a vacuum hose in his hand! Only to shout to his mother 'I told you not to disturb me when i'm cleaning my room!' Fantastic.
The Miss Mann scene will have you in stitches too. She is offering words of comfort to one of her students and as she gets up her balls fall out of her shorts and start swaying between her lags. I think almost everyone in the cinema was laughing at this scene!!
I'm not going to give too much away but there are loads of rude, crude and very funny scenes in this film. Another one to look out for is the take-off of 'Blair witch Project' which is extremely funny. The film also steals scenes and lines from films such as 'Halloween H20', 'Sixth Sense', 'Matrix' and 'Urban Legend'. And ofcourse heavily relies on the plots from 'I.K.W.Y.D.L.S' and 'Scream' trilogy.
The '18' certificate given to this film is really deserving because there is blood (but never scares), rude scenes and crude humour plus loads of bad language. If you're a fan of spoof films and like watching the odd horror flick then this film will appeal to you no end. If you don't then...don't bloody watch it then and why did you read this review! (just kidding) ENJOY!!!
The film is directed by Keen Ivory Wayans and last for just over 95 mins.

Advantages: Hilarious gags and sketches - mickey takes of films like scream and a great cast Disadvantages: Sick-minded humour for some not amazingly long

Review of Scary Movie (DVD)
Advantages: This is hilarious - if you're of the juvenile persuasion. Disadvantages: This is terribly offensive, disgusting, and occasionally delves into sacrilege.
