Advantages: Funny Parody of the Horror genre Disadvantages: Lacks any real sense of plot line development
...as the title suggest a scary movie, so there's no need for hiding behind the sofa moments, it's just plain fun. So if you're after something that's going to be intellectually stimulating then this is not the film for you, if you're after a couple of cheap laughs however then this may well be right up your street. Although never going to be to everyone's taste, the Scary Movie franchise has earned its status through producing amusing films that although ... ...or twice/coming back to every once in a while, they are good films.
If you know the plot of 'Scream' well then you'll be able to take a stab at who the killers are going to be right from the offset pretty much, as apart from a few amusing plot twists, it sticks to the 'Scream' plot fairly rigidly and uses the 'Scream' storyline as a basis to bring in the elements of other films. Obviously the film doesn't have the scare factor of 'Scream' as this ...

Advantages: A funny horror spoof film Disadvantages: Are there too many spoofs made now
...in the 80’s. So when scary movie was made, well I wasn’t too sure about it. But it was taking the Mickey out of a lot of movies and that was a good thing. So, a while back I went and bought the film on DVD, it’s got some good extras and was worth its £10. Here’s my op on a (not so) ‘Scary Movie’, M xx
• What’s this film about?
The best way to describe it is; have you seen Scream? Well, almost identical to that! But if you do want a plot line then ... ...• My final Conclusion on Scary Movie
It’s quite amusing really that the original film ‘Scream’ was going to have the title ‘Scary Movie’ but they changed their mind. The fact that this parody took the title up is very clever!
The acting’s not meant to be earth moving and it’s not. They mimic the characters from Scream in an amusing way. I enjoyed watching all the characters apart from Gail as I felt she was totally cast wrong. She wasn’t funny ...

Advantages: Some good spoofing Disadvantages: Real bad taste | Hammy acting
Scary Movie or ‘Last Summer I Screamed Because Friday the 13th Fell on Halloween’ and ‘Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween’ is the original title of the Scream series. This is series in which Scary Movie spoofs, that along with I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Matrix, The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project and even the Budweiser ‘Wassup’ advert gets the Wayans brothers spoofage. Scary Movie follows ... ...now infamous ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?’ but not before they get a fart gag in. It doesn’t take a genius to know that she is facing the knife, however, it’s done in a gross but nonetheless funny way. Yes you heard (or read) the word ‘gross’. While this is a spoof this is in no way, shape or form on par with the likes of The Naked Gun or Airplane!, those movies had plenty of big laughs without the ...

Advantages: You can leave your taste and brain in another room to enjoy this film Disadvantages: The film is truly stupid
...anyway (you never know).
Scary Movie is a love-or-hate film and this is demonstrated by the range of opinions written before mine. It is toilet humour at it's finest and for those of you that enjoy sitting back, occasionally removing your brain from it's typical resting place and letting a film merely happen to you, then this is the pic for you.
The premise is almost insultingly simple. A group of teenage kids are terrorised by (the person they ... ...their drunken tomfoolery, one year previously (sound familiar yet). Horror ensues as the viscious murderer dons a frightening costume and attempts to dispatch the pesky kids one by one in increasingly blood-curdling ways.
Here's the twist though and I know you want to hear this one. It isn't scary, because it's a spoof on the entire horror genre. Very clever, I hear you scream (get it?) as you prepare to head to Blockbusters to rent this little ...

Advantages: funny movie, good transfer, good deleted scenes Disadvantages: not many extras for a hit mainstream movie
...much from the soundtrack and Scary Movie is no exception. There are some good bass moments whenever a scare is to be found but overall the surrounds are used sparingly with the majority of the soundmix confined to the fron speakers. But like I've said this is what you expect. Now because the film was huge hit and very popular you'd think that some effort would be out into the bonus materials on the dvd. Sadly that doesn't seem to have happened, what ... ...the release. The menus are nicely themed to the movie and animated with music. First up is a behind the scenes featurette that is exactly what you'd expect. A five minute puff piece that features minimal behind the scenes footage mixed with interviews that say how great the movie is and that everyone should go and see it. It's something you'll only watch once. The real bonus feature is a collection of 6 deleted scenes that are actually pretty decent. ...

Advantages: some extremely funny bits Disadvantages: the butlers hand!
...This is an extremely funny movie where most of the cast from the first scarymovie are taken to a haunted house under false pretenses. They are told they are going there for a scientific project.Once there they find out they are there for a scientific project but not the one they think.
As in the first movie the scenes are again based on bits from other movies. This time the main focus is hollow man but there are bits from other movies included. Obviously it is not a straight copy from other movies.
Again as in the first movie shorty is really funny .
Not as good as the origonal scarymovie but I still recommend it as a good movie to watch....

Advantages: an advantage is that it is a funny movie with lots of parodys Disadvantages: a disadvantage is that it doesnt really have many horror parodys more so dramas or thillers
...I think they really have made a good movie here but it is definetly not what i expected. From watchin scarymovie 1 and 2 i expected the third movie to be more along the same lines however they took it into more of a thiller parody. with a little sci fi thrown in (the matrix). A funny bit i thought was the sixth sense parody with the child predicting the sex of a womens child only to tell her that he will grow up to be a ba***rd. I definetly would recomend this movie however its not a movie i would like to see twice. I think the scarymovie range is now gettin dated and they need to step aside for another new style of movie....

Advantages: very funny Disadvantages: none to be honestly
...saw the first movie and wasnt sure exactly how they were going to make a second one. Was pleasantly suprised and must admit it was a lot funnier than the fist one. Again there were the take offs of other horror films such as the exorcist and The Haunting, which were very amusing. There as also a pat with reference to the Gap advertisment with the basket ball in it, very funny, in fact thats all i can see now when i see that avert o nthe TV. would thoroughly recomend this film to anyone who likes this sort of comedy.A must see film, especiaqlly if you liked the fist one, ScaryMovie 2 is much better that the first one, which is strange for a sequel. I will definately be buying this when it becomes available to the UK....

Actor(s): Carmen Electra, Anna Faris, Kurt Fuller, James Van Der Beek, Keenen Ivory Wayans, James Van Der Beek
Director(s): Keenen Ivory Wayans
Genre: Horror - Comedy
Classification: 18 years and over
Production Year: 2000
Running Time: 1 hour 25 minutes
Franchise Name: Scary Movie
Video Category: Feature Film
Country Of Origin: United States of America
Plot: In the tradition of such genre parodies as AIRPLANE!, THE NAKED GUN, and SPACEBALLS, Keenen Ivory Wayans takes on the teen horror flick with SCARY MOVIE, a campy, riotous send-up of everything from the SCREAM and HALLOWEEN franchises to I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, CARRIE, and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. In a small town, a copycat is reenacting the SCREAM murders, and local reporter Gail Hailstorm will do just about anything to get the story. The six high school students who ran over a man on a sharp curve the year before think the killer is out for revenge, but sweet and innocent Cindy Campbell believes that the madman might just lurk a lot closer to home. Cowritten by Shawn and Marlon Wayans (and four others), the script leaves no cliche unturned; in addition to the horror parodies, the film also spoofs such teen sex comedies as AMERICAN PIE and such hit films as THE SIXTH SENSE, THE MATRIX, and FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. The film never lets up in its striking re-creations of classic scenes, and it never passes up the chance for a joke, no matter how crude. The young, attractive cast looks like it just jumped out of DAWSON'S CREEK, playing everything up to the hilt--and beyond.
