Saw, a horror film I expected nothing of, but still because of some of the hype I heard I had decided to check it out, and thank god I did. Horror films today face a crisis, if we ain't been spoon fed a remake, we are being spoon fed a crap rip off. This film has took some critiscim, but this film need's praise, it's not your normal slasher in any sense and I haven't seen a killer so cruel and bizzare as this one, since Seven. Films like these are rare, especially in modern mainstream cinema and deserve all credit. Because if we dont praise what is orignal, we will be fed that what is isn't
Story - Jigsaw is our man, our saviour, he take's people who are not deserving of life, and give's them a chance to prove there willingness to surrive in his cruel and twisted trap/games based on there personailty or situation, if they surrive they are free to escape and have shown there purpose. This films follow's two of Jigsaw's victims, locked by chains in a wall, they both awake in a dirty bathroom, where in the middle a man lies dead, the only clue to what is going on is a tape they have on them. This tape also tell's them there role in this game. More than just their lives are at stake, as one of the men's family are being held hostage, and as the situation becomes more and more complex, the two men realise they have alot in commen. The twists and turns begin, and you just strap yourself in, for this film is one hell of a ride 10/10
Charchters - Ok, start with the obvious, Jigsaw, is he a villan that could compare to classics such as Freddy or Jason? Well Jigsaw could outsmart those two in a drop of a stick, but throw 'em in a ring and Jigsaw's head would get ripped clean off. Jigsaw is an icon in my oppionon, the man never actually murders anybody, they end up killing themselves, as he watches, I give him the status for being one of the smartest physcos Iv ever seen, not the most vicous (Though his trap's are sick in every sense of the word) The two lead charchter's, both with excellent background stories, that connect them together well, the only complaint is sometime's the acting can be a little weak 9.5/10
Blood, Gore And Sex - The traps equal good gore and much blood, the imagery is proably the sickest thing you will find though, which I enjoy most in a movie because the things you dont see scare you the most. There are mild refrences to sex 9/10
Is It A Good Movie - Yes, don't think, don't waste another second if this movie hasn't been in your life yet. Fill up that shot glass, with some Tennese whiskey, kick back that chair, and enjoy, these movies are rare and deserve only the sweetest treatment 95%

Advantages: Gore and horror with gripping suspense throughout, a movie full to the brim of twists and turns. Very compelling. Disadvantages: Being pedantic the acting isn't the greatest. Nothing outstanding, but its a horror movie and you watch it for the gore.
