of two people, chained them in a disgusting bathroom in an abandoned house, and played vicious, brutal mind games with them that potentially could lead to their freedom. Jigsaw is back for more gory fun in SAW II, but this time he comes out from behind the mask to terrorise a troubled cop face-to-face. Tobin Bell reprises his brief role as Jigsaw in the first film with a major starring turn in the sequel. Dying of cancer, Jigsaw lets himself get caught, only to show Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) that his son, Daniel (Erik Knudsen), has been taken hostage with seven other people, all of whom have been placed in a house of horrors with only the slimmest chance of escaping with their lives. Jigsaw promises Matthews that Daniel will live only if the cop follows the rules of the game, but time is running out, as the captives' bodies have been poisoned with a toxin that will soon destroy them. Meanwhile, in the dank, mysterious, booby-trapped house, the ever-more-desperate group of people (including Shawnee Smith, who is back as Amanda, the lone survivor of SAW) furiously try to find their connection to each other and a way out, but blood and violence lie in their path. Like its predecessor, SAW II is a frightening thriller filled with plenty of tricks and treats to satisfy even the most jaded horror fan.

Now, let's meet death...
Probably like many of the horror movies you may have watched in which a group of people is chosen to be punished gradually, Saw II connects the destiny of a number of people who appear to be strangers, yet have something in common. They are imprisoned by Jigsaw [Tobin Bell] in a deserted house that is filled with nerve gas slowly, and they are given two hours to play the game and find the antidotes. What makes the case even more difficult is that one of these prisoners is the son of Eric Matthews [Donnie Wahlberg] who works on Jigsaw's case. The father, Eric, gets the chance to watch what is happening to his son and the others through the video cameras through which Jigsaw always watches his games.
What I didn't like about this film is that it really looks like many others from the same genres. It is true that the plot, or let me say the mystery, has enough complexity and it is somewhat enacted well, yet there are numerous flaws. You'll see many impulsive reactions on the part of the players that might keep you wondering about the objective of all this. Sometimes the players do violent or very stupid things that might disappoint you. I'm aware here that they are in a terrible situation, yet I guess the first choice for me would be to stay out of danger. Here also, one may ask: what if something goes wrong? The destinies of the group of miserable people in this movie are ultimately inseparable. Is this fair? And if this is simply the way real life is, why not just let them live and face the daily, natural dangers? A test should be planned very well.
Saw II is definitely a gory movie, as are all the other Saw films in variable degrees, but there's a certain scene in it that seems to be much more painful than most of the terribly bloody games, although this one is quite different. The scene you'll see in Saw II, and which you'll remember for a long time, does not include much gore and blood like the rest, yet the problem is that it can be very easily imagined, unlike the others. So, please be prepared for all the pain.
The people who have the survival instinct that John talks about are not necessarily "good human beings." In real life, it seems to be the opposite; religious people seem to be less terrified when it comes to facing death than the rest. You will know what I'm talking about when you see the cruellest man among the kidnapped group. Whether he makes it or not is for you to find out, but he remains to be the most important case in Saw II. Taking horror movies seriously looks rather creepy, doesn't it? Well, since the harm is done, let me take this a step further, and pose these questions:
- Was Jigsaw a forgiving person? - What are the characteristics of survivors? - Did Amanda's first test have the same nature that the other tests had? - Did Jigsaw succeed in his games? Did his guinea pigs end up having better lives? - How many people were sacrificed just to let someone else learn something? Is the number big enough to condemn Jigsaw?
Contrary to what you might think here, none of these questions is rhetorical, and you will have to watch the four Saw movies to know the answers. I know I should have done this after reviewing Saw IV, but I didn't do them in the correct order for sometimes I cannot control my moods. You can take a look at the other reviews if need be. Enjoy watching, and don't complicate things as I do. Oh, before I forget, the most important question would be:
- Do you qualify to be one of Jigsaw's players in his little survival game? And what are you willing to give to stay alive?

...of the first of the Saw franchise, it was only a matter of time before the second one was released. This time, the film is directed by Darren Lyn Bousman (rather than James Wan), but Leigh Whannell still has some involvement in the writing of the script. Tobin Bell returns as Jigsaw, and is probably the highlight of the film, looking ethereal and yet deadly at the same time. He really is perfect for the role, controlling his actions so that things ... ...chill down my spine every time he is on screen. Without him, I would go as far as to say that this film wouldn't really be worth watching - the story has been done before, but Tobin's presence adds a bit of class to the proceedings. . Donnie Wahlberg is the only other name that I recognised from the cast list. He plays Eric Matthews and is fine in the role, although I couldn't help but feel that something was missing - possibly a chance to get to ...

...on a mission with the Saw movies, I was really impressed with Saw which I only watched a couple of days ago, that I couldn't wait to watch the sequel SAW 2.
I left off in Saw astounded by the twists and turns that this film had. I was not ancipating the ending and it sure did come as a shock to me when you realised that who you actually thought was the Jigsaw was in actual fact the person that the game was on, and that Jigsaw had been present in ... ...brains out. Very clever!
Saw 2 has much more budget than Saw. Saw was very low budget and you could tell it was, where as they have thrown a hell of a lot more money into this sequel that was produced. Saw 2 starts with a recap of what happened at the end of SAW which is great because if you followed these from the cinema it would be quite easy to forget what happened in the last part however I have literally watched the two days apart and cannot ...

Saw II is my least favourite of all the Saw films, I must admit. Although it is excellent and the effects as with Saw Part 1 are fabulous, the film doesn't really give much insight into the rest of the storyline of the overall Saw series. Although Saw Part 1 is finaly tied up (well kind of!) with the body of Adam who was locked in a cell at the end of the first film, been found decomposing, and the story of Amanda progressing. Amanda ...

Written by Darren Lynn Bousman and Leigh Whannell Jigsaw, the manic murderer ( Although jigsaw claims he never comits a murder as the victims kill them selves), is back with a twist.
Like the first one jigsaw ... ...will die of poisoning.
Saw 2 uses one of jigsaws previous victims ( The one that survived in the original film) and she helps the other victims try to solve the clues that are left for them, as in the original none of the people in the house get away lightly, there is plent of blood and gore.... it reminds me a little of Big Brother...lol.
The Detective in charge finds and captures jigsaw and discover that the whole nightmare is being videoed and ...

Now, to make things a little different, Jigsaw doesn't murder his victims with an axe or razor-sharp claws. It's also a more formulaic film; all the usual horror-movie types are present and accounted for (the slut, the tough guy, the shrieking co-ed with the heaving cleavage) and they meet their maker in the expected order. Meanwhile, the scenes between Jigsaw and Mason feel cribbed from a Thomas Harris novel, with the killer alternately taunting the detective ...

I saw this film last night and thought it was ok. I am not usually a horror film fan because i cant stand hiding behind a cushion for the whole film. With this it was more like csi or something where you get all the detail, you know what is going to happen but you dont fully see it.
It is based around a policeman whose son is kidnapped by jigsaw. He puts this boy in a house with 6 other people. The game begins when the policeman finds jigsaw and sees footage of the house on cctv televisions. He witnesses his son being held. At this he begins to go mad and so jigsaw makes him talk with him and then the policeman begins to beat jigsaw up.
Meanwhile in the house they are being poisioned by a deadly gas which slowly kills there nervous system and means they will bleed from every exit place. One by one they begin to bleed and the only ...
