Saw 3 is the last of a trilogy about a man called Jigsaw. He is a sick psychopath who thinks up new ways to completely destroy the unfortunate individuals who he makes his victims. The story is hard to follow if you haven't watched the previous films and in my opinion is better than Saw 2 but still not up to the standard of the original Saw.
Story: The evil puppet-master Jigsaw a.k.a. John Kramer is at work again. But there's a twist. He is dying from terminal cancer and he needs someone to keep him alive so he can play one more game. Aiding him is his protegée Amanda. Yes, Amanda, the only surviving victim from his evil games that we saw in Saw 1. She has completely transformed and now has even more of a sick mind than Jigsaw himself. Jigsaw tests her but she fails. The games she plays are unwinnable, her "subjects merely victims". Jigsaw claims that he is not a murderer and goes as far to say that he despises them. He says that he doesn't kill his victims, he just helps them to appreciate their life. Amanda kidnaps a doctor who must keep him alive to save her own life. This all happens in a downtown warehouse that has been transformed into a torture chamber. Not a surprising scene for a Saw film. Whilst the Dr Lynn is racing against time and fending away death, another game is going on. A man called Jeff is having to go through different levels of mental torture to make him learn to forgive. A reference of nudity, strong language, mutilation, racks, open surgery wiht power tools and hardcore gore make up this film.
Characters: Jigsaw - The psychotic puppet-master who thinks up ways to torture people who he thinks don't deserve to live. Amanda - The only person to have survived one of Jigsaw's games and has changed for the worst. She is now Jigsaw's assistant and starts to play her own games. Dr Lynn - The wife of Jeff Denlon who ahs an affair after the death of her son. She is kidnapped by Amanda and has a shotgun collar which will blast her into millions of pieces if she does not keep Jigsaw alive. Jeff - Jeff Denlon is Lynn's husband and neglects both his wife and daughter. He has been devastated since the death of his son and cannot forgive those responsible. He has to go through a series of levels in which people responsible are tortured. Only he can them the gift of life but in order to do this, he must learn how to forgive. He fails the tasks and kills Jigsaw, the only person who knows where his daughter is. Eric Matthews - Eric was a detective who led a SWAT team to Jigsaw's latest lair in Saw 2 wiht his ex-partner Kerry. He was forced to play a game of his own as his son was kidnapped by Jigsaw. Kerry - Kerry was a detective and has always been working on the Jigsaw case. She becomes knows as the Jigsaw expert and gets put through a game of her own by psychotic Amanda.
This film contains some really sickening scenes. The ones i immediately think of are mutilated pigs and Dr Lynn cutting Jigsaw's skull open with a drill. If you like gory horror films, then this film is perfect. I would definitely not let young children watch this or recommend it to people who throw up easily.
