Oh my, Saw 3. What a film. I doubt that no other film has managed to make 3 people faint in different cinemas while it was been screened. It seriously is one of the most sickening things you will ever see! I can stomach most things, but even this was making me flinch and turn away!

Even though it is quite a disgusting film, it is also a brilliant film. It is very clever, and all the actors are simply superb, it is possibly the best acting in a film there ever has been.

So Saw 3. The third film in the Saw series, in case you haven't seen any of the Saw films, here is a short description of the basic idea of the films.

There is a man called John Kramer. He is suffering from cancer, and he feels that people that don't realise how precious life if deserve to find out… the hard way! He creates amazing traps for these people who he thinks don't appreciate the life they've been given, and in order to escape these traps, the person will have to make themselves suffer pain. But there is always that chance that they could live, and if they do escape the trap and live, he will let them go free. He is very clever, because technically, he doesn't kill anyone, the person has killed themself if they die. He usually creates traps depending on the person, so in the first Saw film, there was a self harmer, and in order to reach the exit of a room, he had to crawl through razor wire, (cutting yourself to live but not cutting yourself if you want to get trapped in the room forever and die). All his traps are incredibly clever.

If the person fails, he cuts a small shape out of their skin, the shape is a piece of jigsaw, so the newspapers named him the Jigsaw killer. Nobody knows his true identity. At the end of the second film, we found that he has a new apprentice, Amanda, a former subject of his who had self harmed, but she managed to survive the test. At the end of the second film, it looked as if Jigsaw was dead. He was suffering badly from the cancer, he had been beaten to a bloody pulp, and was sitting motionless in a car… But now he's back!!!

Here is a list of the cast in case you were interested.

Tobin Bell- John Kramer / Jigsaw
Shawnee Smith- Amanda Young
Angus Macfadyen- Jeff Reinhart
Bahar Soomekh- Dr. Lynn Denlon
Dina Meyer- Det. Kerry
Barry Flatman- Judge Halden
J. Larose- Troy
Debra Lynne McCabe- Danica Scott
Mpho Koaho- Timothy Young
Stefan Georgiou- Dylan Reinhart
Niamh Wilson-Corbett Reinhart
Alan Van Sprang- Chris
Kim Roberts- Deborah
Costas Mandylor- Hoffman
Franky G- Xavier (Dead)
Leigh Whannell- Adam Faulkner (Flashback)
Donnie Wahlberg- Detective Eric Matthews
Tim Burd- Obi (Hallucination)

Here is a little bit of information about each main character, but be warned, there may be a couple of spoilers in this section of the review!

Jigsaw- The main character in the film. Everyone thought he may be dead by the end of the second film, and Amanda may have taken over his work, but he is still alive, (somehow). He is still as clever as ever, thinking up clever traps. He is still as calm as he always was, and if something is going to go wrong, he will do nothing to stop it, as he will expect it to work out in the end.

He is very close to death, cancer has fully taken over him, and he is on his deathbed. This may just be his final game…

Amanda- Amanda is still Jigsaw's apprentice, but is due to take over his work when he dies. She is starting to design her own traps for her subjects, as practice for when Jigsaw dies.

Jeff- Jeff is part of Jigsaws game. His son died 3 years ago in a car accident when he was on his bike. He has wanted revenge on the person who killed him, and got away with a small sentence. He might just get his chance…

Lynn- Lynn is a doctor. She has cheated on her husband, so that may be why Jigsaw has chosen her for his game. She is also needed to perform an operation on Jigsaw that may help him a bit.

I will now try to do a plot outline, without giving away too much of the story in case you decide to watch the film. But beware of spoilers!!!!

*********************************************************** **********
Jigsaw and Amanda have once again evaded the police after more gruesome discoveries of their most recent test subjects. A doctor called Lynn Denlon is kidnapped by Amanda, for a reason. Jigsaw is dieing fast, and his death is been speeded up by pressure on his skull and brain, and he needs her to perform an operation to release the pressure. She has a device fitted round her neck with shot guns shells all around it. If Jigsaw's heart stops for a small amount of time or if she moves out of range of Jigsaw, the neck-brace will begin it's process, and the shotgun shells will be fired into her head. She will be released once another test subject, Jeff completes his tasks. Jeff lost his son when a car hit him while he was on his bike. Since that day, Jeff has wanted revenge because the man that killed his son got a very short sentence. Jigsaw has managed to find all the people who should have done something to help the court case, but didn't, and he has also found the man who killed Jeff's son. Jeff's tasks are to forgive these people and save them from the traps Jigsaw and Amanda have put them in before they die. Like with the other Saw films, there is a large plot twist at the end, and I am not going to say anything about it, as I would want it to be as big as surprise as it can be when you see it!!!
******************************************************************** *

There you go! Hope that isn't too little or too much for you!!!

So, I think that's enough for the story bit of the review. Maybe it's time for the rest of the DVD.

As with all DVD's, there is the chapter selection part of the DVD, where you can select which part of the film you would like to view, this is helpful if you have watched some of the film, and then would like to go to the point where you stopped watching without having to search throughout the whole DVD.

Then there are the special features on the DVD. There is a short film about the traps of Saw 3, which shows how each trap was designed and made, and how they thought up of the trap.

Then there is a film about the props of Saw 3, which shows how all the gruesome props of the film were made.

Then there are also deleted scenes from the films, theatrical and teaser trailers, and then there are 3 commentaries for the director, writer and producers!

The DVD really has some great features, and all of the short films on it are quite interesting!!!

The Extreme edition of Saw 3 costs about £15, but you could get it a bit cheaper off a few websites!!

Overall, Saw 3 is a sick, sick, sick, but amazing film!! If you loved the first two Saw films, you seriously cannot miss this one!! If you were sickened by the first two, get a carrier bag ready or get ready for a sprint to the toilet if you don't like very strong bloody violence and gore, because Saw 3 has it overflowing out of the DVD!!

It is a great film, and I would highly recommend it, but be wary of it if you are queasy, because this will push you to the limit!!!

Saw 3 is rated 18 for very strong bloody violence and gore.

<Thanks for reading>
