**On The Back Of The Box**

"When her husband jumped put f a plane without a parachute, Grace Trevethen knew life would get tough… but she had no idea just how tough. Left with a manor on the Cornish coast, a mountain of debt and dozens of creditors on her heels, she is about to lose everything. But with Matthew, the manors caretaker, Grace hatches an outrageous idea: why not use her renowned green thumb to plant a cash crop and pay off her debts?

"Soon her greenhouse becomes a hot bed for illegal activity-and business starts blooming. But if te buzz gets too big, these budding entrepreneurs just might have to watch their dreams go up in smoke!

"two time Academy Award nominee Brenda Blethyn (secrets and lies, Little Vioce) and Craig Ferguson (TV's The Drew Carey Show) are delightful in a most potent comedy."

**What It's About**

Saving Grace is exactly what the title says the film is about; saving Grace (Brenda Blethyn), a middle aged widow whose passion is gardening and whose husband has just died and left her in thousands and thousands of pounds worth of debt. Due to failed business plans and mortgaging and re-mortgaging their home, Grace is desperate. And just to add salt to the wound, her husband's mistress turns up at the funeral but she ends up playing a fital part later on in the film. Her lovely sexy gardener, Matthew played by Craig Ferguson is forced out of his job because she can't afford to pay him so it seems like Matthew and Grace are in dire straights because without any money, Grace's house will be repossessed and without a job Matthew will have to move back to Glasgow and take his unhappy fisher girlfriend with him. That is of course until Matthew's little drug habit conjures up a masterful plan for the pair of them to become very rich indeed!! They start mass producing dope!

The film is set in a quiet little seaside fishing town where the people there are very close and loving and get up to all sorts of mischief! And because they are of such a tight-knit community, gossip of Grace and Matthew's little venture doesn't take long to get around. The doctor played by Martin Clunes is also quite a heavy user of marijuana so he gets in on the game to.

Without giving too much away, it all ends up disastrously, hilariously and heart warmingly when the drug dealer comes to collect him takings! (there's a little clue on the back of the box! ;-))

It might sound like an awful, drug centred film but really it's not!! It's funny, sometimes hilarious, heart warming, clever and focuses more on the people than on the drugs. There is one scene where Grace asks Matthew "to give her one", meaning a joint and it's so funny to see a very stoned Brenda Blethyn!

**Bits and Bob's**

There are some really good songs on the soundtrack that are classics! I can't remember the title of the song but it's on eof those which everyone knows! I tihnk it's called "You've done it all". There are some good songs on it though.

There are no special effects so you action peeps might be a bit disappointed!

**On The DVD**

There is only one disc and on this is the film which runs for 88 minutes and 3 special features which include the original theatrical trailer, cast and crew interviews and making of featurette. The cast and crew interviews are quite good, funny in places and show snippets of the film that the cast are talking about. The director also talks about how he feels about the film in general and the making of specific scenes.

The making of featurette is interesting but not THAT interesting, it basically shows making of sum scenes and how the made the dope props. I have to say the special features aren't that special.

**Final Thoughts**

The advantages of this film is it's funny and you really feel for poor old Grace and will her on in her illegal job! The only disadvantage of the film is that it is very enthusiastic about the use of the drug! Which is why the certificate is 15. But apart from this it is a brill film!

I had a look to find the cheapest place that sells it and it's www.play.com, it's £8.99 + free p&p so it's a real bargain from there at the mo because everywhere else is offering from £12.99-£19.99.

I do strongly suggest you at least rent it out because it is SO funny and if you're like me and enjoy a nice comedy with some well known faces this is a definite must have!
