I've just completed my BA (Hons) Scriptwriting for Film & Television degree at Bournemouth Uni. I got a 2:1.
Perhaps I could have got a 1st if I'd written fewer opinions on Ciao and paid more attention to my final script. Curse this site!!!

When her husband dies, formerly well-to-do Grace finds out that not only was he a crook but that he has also left her penniless and with massive debts. With eviction looming, she is at a loss about what to do until her pot-smoking gardener, Matthew, suggests that she puts her gardening skills to good use by growing and selling copious amounts of marijuana. The inhabitants of this sleepy Cornish village soon feel the effects.
What's refreshing about this little film is its none-judgemental stance concerning those who choose to enjoy the effects of "de 'erb". Only Matthew's girlfriend Nicky raises any objection to his being involved in the scheme, and only then because she is pregnant and fears that he will be arrested. The authority figures are portrayed as either kind-hearted, understanding types or just incompetent. Much of the film, like Grace herself, comes across as either quaint or just naive. In particular, the scenes of unsuspecting villagers getting spiked and freaking out are nothing new, and the ending doesn't quite sit right with the rest of the film.
However, stoners everywhere will find great humour, and perhaps feel a pang of nostalgia, in the scene where Grace tries her first joint. Whether this film is actually worth going to see in the cinema is another matter altogether, as it would undoubtedly seem much more at home on BBC2 or C4, although it's actually been funded by Sky Pictures. Still, its refusal to sermonise or patronise wins the day.
