Having recently been reading a lot of reviews about female vocalists, I have noticed that one name never, ever, seems to turn up is that of Sarah Mclachan, who must be one of Canada's best kept secrets....

Why, I do not know, as this Lady has probably got one of the most powerful and emotional voices I have ever heard in my life, and some of you may have already heard it, and not known, as she is featured on the soundtrack of Toy Story 2, singing the lovely " When Somebody Loved Me"....

So, lets try and put the record straight on that one by reviewing this wonderful live DVD of Sarah in Concert.....

Almost immediately from the moment you put this disc into your player, and start the Concert, you know that from the opening chords and vocal from the beautiful track " Fallen " that this is going to be a special event, which has been captured here on DVD for us all to enjoy, time and time again....

The Concert then goes on to show Sarah and her stunning Band play just about everything you could possibly expect from her repertoire of songs over the Years, which once again, seem to have been cruelly overlooked by the majority of people...

World on Fire, is the next song to be played on this DVD, and follows on from the opening track, in its harrowing use of Sarah's voice, with stunning effect...........and here we have the format for this brilliant Concert, the voice is totally captivating and so very emotional indeed, that I defy anyone to watch this and not be touched by the raw and pure emotion displayed here.

We then get taken on an amazing roller coaster of songs, played one after the other, with stunning accuracy by a Band that really want to compliment and compete with the vocals that Sarah is spitting out with some venom and pure emotion too. It's a wonderful sight and sound all round......

All of a sudden we get to, what I call the " killer " track on this DVD, and its called " Angel " which sees Sarah sitting at the piano, playing this solo, its an absolute classic piece of music, and you may well remember it from the T.V. series " Angels in America " and its totally captivating , you can hear a pin drop, and not a dry eye in the House, pass the Kleenex....

After this track, you may think the Concert will start to fade away, not a hope in Hell of that happening at all. The Band and Sarah seem to get a new lease of life, and really get down to play some more stunning material, and I must admit to being totally impressed with the musicianship in this Band, most of whom I have never heard of before....

So, am I happy with this DVD / CD package.......

You bet I am, Its probably the best one I have bought in Years, and it only cost £5:99 from HMV online too,plus another live bonus CD to go with it as well....

The Bonus material on this disc is pretty basic actually, we get a 20 minute Backstage Video Diary, which is quite interesting, then some photos of the Band and Sarah in Concert, we also have the Lyrics as well, plus the usual merchandise and Fanclub addresses

The Music Videos are the best feature though, we have 3 tracks here, Fallen, Stupid and World on Fire.

The World on Fire video is absolutely brilliant, and has won many awards around the Globe, its pretty simple and has a very hard hitting message, and it only cost $15 to make, and you will know why, when you see it. Haunting stuff indeed, and food for thought.

The ONLY reason I have included all the track listings here, is because NOBODY seems to have heard of of Sarah Mclachan at all, and I do hope that some of these tracks may just jog your memory, and make you have a listen to this wonderful Lady's voice and music, trust me, you will not be disappointed at all....

So, at the end of the Day, this is a brilliant DVD package all round, and if you have never heard of Sarah Mclachan before......

Then you have just read this review, and you have now....
