for some of the fun they see Earth children enjoying via the television. Martian sage Chochem advises the Martian council that what they need is a Santa Claus like figure, but rather then find one of their own, they decide to kidnap Earth's Santa, along with two children. San Santa Claus help the Martians and return to Earth to complete making toys for the children of his own planet?
Advantages: Sense of escapist fun. Disadvantages: It's cheap hammy nonsense from start to finish.
92. SantaClausConquers the Martians (1964)
Should I be ashamed when I say this actually made me laugh along with some of the jokes? It?s certainly no finely crafted Bill Murray comedy, or even up to the mediocre standard of a mid series Police Academy film, but it?s not completely without merit. Although for most, it will take a very special frame of mind to avoid drowning yourself in eggnog by the final reel.
The story begins with the leader of the Martians, Kimar. He is worried about the children of Mars - especially his own. They seem unhappy, can?t sleep, suffer a loss of appetite, and watch too much Earth television. Including a special interview in the North Pole with SantaClaus. After ten minutes deliberation and consulting a magical 800 year old wise man in a rock garden, he comes to the conclusion that Mars is no fun ...
Ok, yes i m aware that this is the second review i've done on a christmas film in two days, and no i'm not one of those fruitcakes that puts my tree up in september until march................... ANYWAY!!
I want to review The santaclaus brothers, dvd. My daughter received this disc as part of her christmas box last year.
Having never heard of the film before then, i confess it took me two months to even unwrap it and another momth to even watch it!!
The story -
Mel, Darryl and Roy are Santas sons and are all 150 years old (in santa years!!) The boys have a lot of growing uo to do, both in maturity and waist lines!!! (two of them are extremely thin!!)
The time has come for santa to decide who is going to take over the reins of the big sleigh, buts its becoming clear to him that the triplets are more interested in monkeying ...
Advantages: Tim Allen Disadvantages: Annoying children
During this Christmas period I have watched a couple of Christmas movies, which is something that I don't normally do. One of these I saw a day or two ago on BBC1, called THE SANTACLAUSE. This movie was released in 1994 and stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, a father who finds himself literally 'becoming' SantaClaus after Santa comes a cropper on Calvin's roof.
The film is quite amusing, but this is largely down to the screen personality of Tim Allen, who I always enjoyed in his television sitcom HOME IMPROVEMENT. In comparison to the other Christmas movie I have seen in the last few days (JINGLE ALL THE WAY), this is by far the better. This is mainly down to the fact that Allen can DO comedy (he began his career as a stand-up comedian) whereas Arnold Schwarzenegger really can't.
The special effects in the film are quite good, as ...
