and has ruined the image of Mr Bean for me. At first I was curious and quite excited - I had hoped the comedy would be on the same lines as the original but I was wrong.
The soundtrack is mostly orchestral with symbols, drums and flutes to emphasise dramtic turn arounds and Beans thoughts. The vocals, as the televised original series is basically mumbles and whimpers with the odd 'ooooo' sound. Another thing that irritates me is the fact that they have tried to modernise him and have given him a girl friend, not that that ever get together, lord no, what would happen to teddy, where would he sleep!? Irma Gobb is more a romantic interst whom Bean tries to impress, but rarely suceeds.
In this single DVD volume you get 8 episodes, each lasting about 15minutes in length and include; 'In The Wild', 'Missing Teddy', 'No Parking', 'Bean's Bounty ...
Advantages: Unique Anime , Great music Disadvantages: Lots of violence
I've decided to split my review into different parts as you'll see :)
Visually :
Just by watching the first ten seconds, you can tell that this is not your average samurai soap opera. Amid the beautiful traditional Japanese art in the opening credits comes something we have never heard in this genre of anime. Hip-hop music.
Audio :
Yes, I said hip-hop music. Director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, The Animatrix) brings us a new kind of samurai story with Samurai Champloo, the story of two samurai, Mugen and Jin, who are stuck helping a klutzy waitress named Fuu find a samurai who 'smells of sunflowers'. However, the story is told in the same style as Cowboy Bebop; stand-alone episodes with the carried over storyline that pops up every now and then.
Storyline :
Set in the ever-popular Edo period, modern character ...
Advantages: great music, acting and storyline Disadvantages: only two episodes on this one dvd, and they cut the tune!
Isn't it wonderful when those child hood memories come back to you, and whats even better is when they are in snazzy updated (graphics and sound wise anyway) version, such as this dvd.
Fraggle rock, as most can remember was another genius creation from Jim Henson. For those out of the loop, or are lucky enough to be too young to remember, he's the same man who is responsible for the existence of the muppets, sesame street and of course - the fraggles!

DVD Description
Based on a manga by Kazuhiro Kumagai, the extremely violent and strangely anachronistic anime series SAMURAI GUN re-imagines the pivotal moment when ancient Japan first confronted the changing winds of Western modernity. In the mid-19th century, Japan is still awash in its feudal customs, with lawless and corrupt samurai marauding the nocturnal countryside, brutally slaughtering innocent (and mostly female) victims with traditional swords and spears. Enter lone wolf Ichimatsu, a moody young man who decides to battle the evil Shogun with a newly invented weapon: guns. The ensuing gunfight action sequences play out against a dusty backdrop of saloons and brothels for a decidedly spaghetti Western-like feel, albeit one with copious amounts of graphic violence, as warm jets of blood splash across the screen and sadism toward women prevails. The 13-part series kicks off with this first volume of four episodes.
