DVD Description
SAIYUKI RELOAD is a sequel to the popular anime series SAIYUKI. A blend of action, fantasy, and comedy that is based partly on a 16th-century Chinese folktale and partly on a modern-day Japanese manga, the SAIYUKI franchise follows Buddhist monk Sanzo on his sacred mission to destroy demons across the land of Shangri-la. Sanzo is joined on his quest by three misfits, each with his own particular skills: the half-demon Goku, the magic-wielding Hakkai, and the lucky gambler Gojyo. In this second volume of episodes, the heroes arrive at a new village only to be duped by a particularly clever and powerful demon who seeks to sow discord in the group.
Advantages: Great comedy and storyline Disadvantages: No real ending leaves it open for more Saiyuki's, though that may be good ^ ^
...SaiyukiReload, another addition or play off from the "journey to the west" and previous Saiyuki episodes. Its a great tale about a buddist priest and group of 3 youkai (demons) that travel to india to save the world from the terriable minus wave that makes all the (would be peacefull) youkai go crazy.
SaiyukiReload is a great add to the Saiyuki pile. For those who watch the japanese version, I will say you'll not be dissapointed because all the voice actors from the previous Saiyuki's are the same, but for those who watch the english version, the voice actors are ALOT better than the previous. Mainly because Sanzo (priest) doesnt sound like a depressed teenager anymore.
All in all you have to watch the episodes in full, including the little parts at the end of each episode called "urasai" which are sooo funny they'll keep you...

Advantages: Action-packed anime series which combines fast witted comedy with excellent character development Disadvantages: Sometimes choppy animation and some cliched plotlines.
...In the land of Shangri-La demons have started to go berserk and it's up to a bunch of four misfits each with their own pain and powers to stop the madness and bring the world to order.
This is SaiyukiReload, the sequel to the anime Gensomaden Saiyuki and it carries on from there.
Saiyuki is an action-packed often comedic series that I am incredibly fond of. The four main characters are instantly likable whether it's the cool playboy half-breed Gojyo, the perpetually-hungry nuclear warhead Goku, the always-smiling hardass Hakkai or the pissy, drinking, smoking gun-toting monk Sanzo it covers all the bases.
The first dvd covers four standalone episodes each with their own contained storylines, which sets you up nicely if you haven't seen the other series, as it does explain the story. The stories tend to deal with the conflicts ongoing...

Advantages: An excellent rip-roaring conclusion to an excellent first part, Tarantino at his best.Pure genius in celluloid. Disadvantages: A shame there is not a 3rd part to this movie.
...When Tarantino released Kill Bill Vol 1, it was met with wide acclaim, some positive some not so positive, claiming he had just made a bloodfest and was into shocking people, true the original movie was graphic in parts but I believe it paved the way for Vol2.
In Vol 1. we see that the charcter played by Uma Thurman has been wronged (to put it mildly) and is merely exacting her perceived revenge for the loss of her child and nearly her life but we know little of the depths of the charcaters.
In Vol2. we get more in depth information relating to the characters in the movie, and we get the cataclysmic ending that just the movie justice.
Vol 1 was the jammy sponge for the film and Vol2 is most definitely the icing and decorations.
In both movies we have excellent acting, scripting and direction (as we have come to expect from...
