Advantages: Carole Lombard shines Disadvantages: Strange concept for a film
...The premise for this screwball from 1937 is a little odd. Carole Lombard plays Hazel Flagg, a girl who is bored out of her mind in the small town where she lives. She longs to escape to the big city and gets her chance when she has the opportunity to pretend that she's dying of radium poisoning (there, I said it was a bit odd!). A major New York newspaper sends a reporter (Frederic March) to persuade Hazel
to come to Manhattan. The newspaper will ensure that her last days are exciting and eventful and, in return, the editor anticipates that his sales will soar. Hazel doesn't take much persuading and her 'last days' are a flurry of parties and glamour and all the excitement she could wish for. When Frederic March finds out that Hazel is not really dying, well, get ready for sparks to fly!
Nothing is sacred as the film makes fun...

Advantages: Genius Disadvantages: Slows to the end
...Excellent This film is jam packed with surreal wacky and obscure humour that made the Monty Python gang the king of comedy that they are today. Pure Genius! I his takes you through the many stages of life from birth through killing people to death. My favourite bit in the whole film is the Every Sperm Is Sacred scene which will be forever etched into my memory as one of the greatest movie moments of all time. A load of great sketched punctuated by the well-known Gilliam animation does, in my opinion, slow a bit towards the end. Unmistakably Python....

Advantages: prospect of new horror material- ship in mysterious part of ocean Disadvantages: downhill after opening sequence
...After a jaw-dropping opening sequence, that might make use of your bucket of pop-corn as a sick bag,the film seems to slip into the uneventful horror flick category. Although the cast includes Gabriel Byrne,( Usual Suspects) and Julianna Margulies,( ER ), the script they deliver lacks any weight.
Gist:A group of salvagers are told about cruise liner that had supposedly vanished in the 60's, they sail out to claim it as theirs, but predictably become stranded on it. They discover a haunted cargo, and begin to unearth what happened to the original crew and passengers.
The film does have positive points such as SFX and at some points quite a slick sound track.
Personally I'd give it a 5/10,in short nothing special....
