Advantages: Hilarious and he's gorgeus! Disadvantages: If your offended easily
...everything.
It lets you see Russell as the person that he is and also makes you see that he can be serious.
These last about 25 mins each,if i remember rightly.
I dont want to give the whole show away,so I wont, but if your not offended easily and like Brands humour, then definately give this one a watch. ...

Quick review of Russell Brand - Live (DVD) Review ofRussell Brand - Live DVDby
blakewozere
the stand up is hilarious, a little crude, but still hilarious none the less! The extras are also hilarious with an interview with Matt, Trevor and Russell from the Radio 2 show (plus footage from the show) and also a spoof realty show - hilarious! If you like russells eccentricity you will love this DVD!

Advantages: Very funny Disadvantages: There are no real surprises
...DVD for Christmas, I love Russell Brand. I think he's very funny and I watched all of his shows, so this was a perfect present for me. It was filmed live at the Shepard's Bush Empire and it ran for about 60mins. The topic of this show was generally about 'shame' and how Russell always manages to embarrass himself in any situation. It's the usual energentic, self-depricating and flamboyant humour but instead of being in short bursts in his show it ... ...a fan of Russell Brand or are not too sure of him, I'm not sure this DVD would be for you as it is very typical of his humour, lots of rude bits and some things which are downright silly. It's mainly filled with anecdotes of things that have happened to him, like his holiday memories (the embarrasing bits), being insulted by rock star Dad's, being in the papers for things he has and hasn't done. As a fan I found these stories very funny, but people ...

Advantages: Get to see Noel Gallagher laugh for once Disadvantages: He's very very dirty
My partner bought me the Russell Brand live dvd last night as he knows that I'm a massive fan of Big Brother's Big Mouth and think that he was brilliant hosting the NME Awards this year. We switched it on and after only 5 minutes I was completely disappointed. He repeats himself time and time again, repeating parts of the previous joke, and his gags on his sex life aren't even funny. They're disgusting. Don't think that I'm a miserable old fart by ... ...about sex it's funny. But Russell is disgusting and you can see from some of the audience's faces that they aren't amused either. I'm not going to tell you what he says because it may spoil it for some people, but personally I was a bit disappointed with the content of his live show. I'm in stitches laughing when I watch Big Brother's Big Mouth when he goes on about his ball bags and "Beppe" and "Gaffney". I thought that this DVD would be sort of ...

Advantages: The later part of the show where Brand has settled in and flows well Disadvantages: The start of the show - 15 mins for anything funny!
Russell Brand is a very funny man. He would be the ideal drinking buddy at the pub, however his stand up DVD is quite possibly the most dissapointing stand up show I have seen. I am a fan of stand up comedians such as Lee Evans and Peter Kay - Obviously I was not expecting quite the same thing however I did expect better.
Judge for yourself but Brand seems nervous for the first half of the show and fails to find his feet on the stage and develop ... ...The second half of the show is much better and shows Brand\'s potential. The section where he analyses articles in the paper is very funny and brings out the best in Brand which is more obvious on things like \'Big Mouth\' and his Radio 2 podcast. Worth a watch as there are a few laugh out loud parts but I can almost guarantee that you will be disapointed. Perhaps a more conversational style or presenting suits the man better rather than Stand up ...

Advantages: Russell is always funny Disadvantages: Recycled material, not as good as the first dvd
...As a big fan of RussellBrand, I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed with the "Doing Life" show. I have long enjoyed Russell's work on TV, I enjoy his podcasts, and also thought his first stand-up DVD "RussellBrandLive" was a work of art.
"Doing Life" is in much the same vein, so much so that he recycles material from the first show. He also recycles jokes used on his television show "Ponderland", which to me is rather lazy and disappointing from one of the UK's best.
Allow me to state clearly, the show is not bad. Not at all. Brand's unique charm and his audience interaction are as good as ever. His confessional style to comedy is back, as he once again shares some embarassing and hilarious stories from his own life with the crowd. Most of the material is new and Russell on several occasions is able to demonstrate his great...

Advantages: Very funny and articulate Disadvantages: May not be suitable for some
...RussellBrand grew up in Essex and first came to fame with the hit channel 4 show Big Brothers Big Mouth (a spin off from the actual show Big Brother) He was recognised by his outrages behaviour, dress sence and articulate language. The 33 year old Russell became a big hit and now does his own stand up shows.
The DVD "Doing life" is hilarious throughout. If you are easily offended then i suggest you do not watch it, on the other hand if you are not then you will simply love the DVD. The stand up was performed at the Hackney Empire in London very close to his home town. The time duration of the DVD is approximately 1 hour and 2 mins and the certificate of the DVD is 18 (not surprisingly).
He talks about being a child, family holidays and what time he used to go to bed. What i found endearing was the affectionate mockery of his mother...
