the returning stars, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. The action--and there's plenty of it--starts in Hong Kong, where Detective Lee (Chan) and his LA counterpart Detective Carter (Tucker) are attempting a vacation, only to get assigned to sleuth a counterfeiting scheme involving a Triad kingpin (John Lone), his lethal henchwoman (Zhang Ziyi, fromCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and an American billionaire (Alan King). Director Brett Ratner simply lets his stars strut their stuff, so it hardly matters that the plot is disposable, or that his direction is so bland he may well have directed the film from a phone in a Jacuzzi. At its best,Rush Hour 2compares favourably to Chan's glossiest Hong Kong hits, and when the action moves to Las Vegas (where Don Cheadle makes an unbilled cameo), the film goes into high-pitched hyper-drive, riding an easy wave of ambitious stunt-work and broad, derivative humour. However, echoes ofBeverly Hills Copare easy to see and stale ideas (including a comedic highlight for Jeremy Piven as a gay clothier) are made even more aggravating by dialogue that's almost Neanderthal in its embrace of retro-racial stereotypes. Of course, that's what makesRush Hour 2a palatable dish of mainstream comedy: it insults and comforts the viewer at the same time, and while some may find Tucker's relentless hamming unbearable, those who enjoyedRush Hourare sure to appreciate another dose of Chan-Tucker lunacy.--Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

I like nothing more than sitting down in the evening to watch a good comedy. I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical to begin with and only really watched this film because my boyfriend loves Jackie Chan movies and said that this was my kind of film, and how right he was, to say the least I was hooked. I would even go as far as to say that Rush Hour along with Rush Hour 2 is my alltime favourites. Once you watch the first part you can't wait to see the follow-up, so owning this box-set is defnitely the way to go. The first film left me in stitches and as soon as I watched it I couldn't wait to see it again. I immediately went on to watch the second part the same night. You can't go wrong with this box set.
Jackie Chan is a massive movie star and is a great martial artist. I just didn't realse how funny he could be, and teamed up with Chris Tucker the film couldn't really go wrong. You couldn't get a better pair. From strat to finish this film is truly an entertaining adventure that is guaranteed to have you wanting more.
Rush Hour: Rush Hour is about two cops, Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and LAPD James Carter (Chris Tucker) each coming from different backgrounds. Inspector Lee is a Hong-Kong cop who flies to the U.S.A. to rescue a little girl named Soo Yung. Soo Yung has been kidnapped and is the daughter of a high class consul named Han (Tzi Ma). Han is also a great friend of Inspector Lee so this is classed as a top case. LAPD Chris Tucker is a day to day American cop. To begin with the only thing that Carter and Lee have in common is that they both work alone and neither want a partner.
Trouble begins when the FBI want Inspector Lee kept out of the case. They want their own men to deal with it and won't have anyone stand in their way. The FBI call upon the LAPD team and ask them if they could send someone over to keep Inspector Lee out of the investigation. Without too much thought the head of the department deides to send along James Carter as he is always getting into mischief and feel he wont be a loss.
James Carter is told that he has been assigned to investigate in a top case run by the FBI. What he doesn't know at this point is that Lee is his only assignment and that he is not in any way involved in helping with the kiddnapping. Carter sets off full of high spirit. He meets up with the FBI then begins laying down rules and says that he can only work alone. The FBI are confused and wonder who this guy is. When they hear that Carter has been sent from LAPD they begin to laugh and understand that he has in fact nothing to do with the operation and go on to tell him that his assignment is to keep Lee out of their way.
Carter says that he is not a babysitter and immediately phones his boss to say he is on his way back, only to be told that he has to complete his task or alternatively get suspended. Carter goes along with this and sets off to the airport to get Inspector Lee. At arrival Carter is angry and not impressed when he assumes that Lee cannot speak english. Lee, who does speak english just allows Carter to do all the talking. It is only later on that Lee reveals he does speak english which helps prevent them both from being arrested. Carter is furious and thinks that Lee is mocking him so the pair are constantly at eachother, trying to proove to one-another who the best cop is.
Carter rants on saying that he is going to solve the case himself and that he doesn't need the FBI anyway. The pair argue constantly and Lee sets off to save the little girl at his first opportunity.
The pair learn to trust eachother and work as a team to help save Soo Yung. They eventually become really good friends. Watch it and you will see just how the awesome pair work together to fight towards saving her. Some great twists and turns that you won't expect.
As the film states "The fastest hands in the East versus the biggest mouth in the West." For me this captures the essence of this film instantly.
The script is truly funny and the plot amazing. You will see some incredible stunts and the humour is 100%. This is definately one for your collection. It will keep you entertained for the full 98 minutes and can be watched over and over. I can honestly rate this film as being 10 out of 10. I love it. Suitable to all audience.
Another added bonus is the great soundtrack.
This movie has said to have made over $120 million at the box office. This alone proves the popularity of this film. ----------------- Rush Hour 2: Rush Hour 2 is a great follow-up and is in no-way a let down. I usually hate it when a second movie is made because in my opinion the follow-up is rearely as good as the original. However in the case of Rush Hour as you will see there is no comparison. Both movies are truly awesome and although I recommend watching one before two, they are both equally as good.
Whilst the pair are on holiday in Hong Kong James Carter is looking forward to a much deserved rest, and is hoping to sample some of the city's delights. He is amazed by how pretty the women are and begins enjoying a massage. Carter believes that this is a vacation of rest and fun, however Lee who can't forget that he's a cop for two minutes has other ideas and soon the pair are back on duty.
Carter wants nothing more than to party, but when he finds out this is all about settling Lee's fathers last case he decides to help. The pair work together in putting the pieces together to solve yet another investigation.
The adventure takes the pair from Hong Kong back to the USA. In my opinion some of the martial arts side are better this time around.
This is another great movie with some fab stunts along the way.

If you haven't yet seen either of these films then you must rent or better still buy it NOW........You won't regret having this in you're collection I'm sure.
