I watched this on BBC 1 on Christmas Eve and then decided to do a op on it as it is so great.
The Plot: US comic Chris Tucker plays LAPD cop James Carter who gets a job for the FBI to look after, Lee played by Jackie Chan, he is a martial-arts cop trying to rescue the kidnapped 11 year old of the Chinese consol. The first 30-hour is a slow starter with the whole over-view of the story getting uncovered and you see a lot of Tucker's humour. Also when Lee arrives in America for the first time ever, Lee doesn't speak English because he doesn't like Carter amd tries to run away from him but Carter catches and Lee speaks English and they finally get along and trying and finish off the task. After that Carter and Lee go places which will feature a lot of action. I hope i didn't ruin the story for you. The plot is rather simple but effective for the action and funny parts but i am sure it wouldn't have been to difficult to spice the story up a little with a few more twists there is a few but are speaced out. Rush Hour is centered around the plot instead the comedy and action is the most important. Overall:3/5
Actors: Chan and Tucker are the most important actors as well as the best is this film. Their isn't really any other famous actors because the film is based mostly on Chan and Tucker. Tucker is funny with his cocky mouth and is a very good quick talker, he is also involved in the action which is a helpful addition. Well what can i say about Chan he is just fantastic he certainly knows how to fight the martial-arts is just quick and scary he is one of the best fighting actors in the world without a doubt. The supporting actors don't have to do much and i couldn't see any mistakes so i reckon they did alright.
Other actors in the film: Christopher Penn, Tom Wilkinson, Elizabeth Pena. Overall:5/5
Script: The script is very comical especially Tucker's script, the funny script works well with the action. The talking is cut down as its supposed to cocentrate on the action and humour, Brett (director) makes this clear and obvious. The supporting actors though should have got more lines making the film longer and a tad more intresting, not that it is already intresting. There is also a few foreign sentences.
Reasons why this is a good film: Chan and Tucker come from different cultures and they are both very clever and classy actors, and they cover about 90% of the film so if they were rubbish this film would be but its not, they combine to make this action comedy film a success.
Fun for all the family and take a look at the sequel as its even better. Overall:8/10
