Everyone is going on about the brilliant Rush Hour 2 at the moment, well I haven't seen Rush Hour 2 (YET!!) And until the other day I hadn't seen Rush Hour either! I'd heard of Rush Hour, it sounded a pretty good action movie, but I'd never actually got round to seeing it!
A few days back now I watched it on Digital and I was very impressed, can't wait to see the second one now! Here is my review on the film itself...
PLOT
The film starts with the introduction to a little Chinese girl called Soo Yung and her diplomat father who loves her dearly, the little girl seems around the age of 7 or 8, maybe a little older. She comes from a rich family, you can tell straight away and one day on the way to school, she is kidnapped on route.
The American F.B.I take over the case to find the diplomats daughter, Soo Yung. But the father of Soo Yung herself, wants a good friend from China who is a cop, Inspector Lee (Might be spelt 'Li' but I'm not sure!) to help them. Inspector Lee comes over to America and the F.B.I decide that he should be kept away so they can do their job themselves. He needs to be kept apart from his well known friend, who is the father of the missing child. Inspector Lee is desperate to help as he knew Soo Yung
personally as we see at the beginning to the film. He is acted by Jackie Chan so as you can imagine, lots of action comes here! Thats when James Carter is called in on the case, motor-mouth cop played by Chris Tucker. (Very funny!)
James Carter is a cop and believes he can work alone without any back-up help. After going on an undercover drug-deal investigation two police oficers get shot due to his madly ways and antics. Thats when his boss gives him the choice of a suspension for 2 months without any pay or to go and work with the F.B.I for a while, being the mad man that he is I think we all know what he chooses!
James Carter thinks that he is going to be the lead man in the 'missing chinese girl' investigation but later finds out he is doing nothing but a dirty job, keeping Inspector Lee out of reach and contact from his well known friend, the father of the missing girl.
After much agro and confusion James Carter decides to go along with the twist. In the end himself and Inspector Lee team up to save Soo Yung themselves, as they are both really desperate to be involved.
The story goes on to reveal action packed scenes, hilarious smart a*sed comments and witty intelligence. All of which is fantastic to watch!
ACTORS
As we all know, Jackie Chan plays the Detective Inspector Lee, who is a Hong kong police officer. As you can all expect he brings non-stop action to the flik but you have to let the film settle in first, don't expect to see any action from him right at the start though, it comes more towards the end especially and there is some in the middle of the film too! His acting, as always is superb and quite funny at times. I think he acts really well and his stunts are amazing!
Chris Tucker, who plays the motor-mouth destructive cop, Detective James Carter also stars brilliantly in this film. He may seem annoying but you get used to him and his non-stop wise cracks after a while. He brings along and develops the most humerous parts to the film. His acting is outstanding and I really love him in this flik.
There are also many other great actors in the movie who play the father of the missing child, the other cops and F.B.I agents, there is also a great actress who plays the old friend of James Carters from his old job, she stars at the beginning of the movie and then gets more involved again towards the end. I also thought the little actress that played the hostage (the little chinese girl) was excellent, she seems a budding actress and played her part very well for such a young child with a hard job to complete. I'm sure we'll see her again sometime in the future!
OTHER INFO
This film was rated as a '12' due to the hard core action and mild swearing.
The best bits to watch out for are:
AT THE BEGINNING: James Carter blowing a street up trying to catch a criminal and then afterwards thinking it wasn't his fault!
LATER ON: The little Chinese girl singing along to Mariah Carey in the car just before she gets kidnapped! ~ She sings pretty well lol.
TOWARDS THE END: The little girl having a go at the man that kept her, she shouts 'go on go on, just shoot me!!!' Its really funny!
You can also buy this movie on a DVD format and I personally would highly recommend it, even though I haven't seen it on DVD! ~ I reckon it would have some excellent features!
Right at the end of the movie, there is an outakes part that comes along with all the credits, these are pretty funny too, it's only the usual of making a mockery of lines, fighting scenes going wrong and other odd things that went wrong!
OVERALL
You really need to be into comedy and action to see this film, if not you won't like it! The film is great and the actors are outstanding, they are hilarious and brilliant! There is never a dull moment in this film, you'll be entertained all the way through it. The fight scenes are outstanding to watch and the humour has you in stitches sometimes! Now I know why this film was such a massive hit and why they have done a sequel! I really need to go see the second one now!
If you haven't already seen Rush Hour, then I highly suggest that you do! It's worth a watch and will entertain you highly! You can buy and rent the film on both VHS and DVD. The film is also on digital movie channels on a regular basis. Thanks and cheers. ~M~

Oh well that leaves you one up on me- I still haven't seen Rush Hour let alone the sequel. A very good opinion, it certainly does sound like a film that is worth seeing. Cheers, Timmy.
