"The fastest hands in the East meet the biggest mouth in the West" A couple of friends and I went out last weekend to see Rush Hour 2, having seen Rush Hour in the cinemas and thoroughly enjoyed it, we decided to see Rush Hour 2 which was a great film too.
Anyway, I decided to revisit the first film in its DVD form. Ahhh I bet you thought I was going to about Rush Hour 2 in the wrong category eh? This is my first review and I decided to look around the site reviewing others before I wrote my first review, and I saw that reviews in the wrong catergory are not favoured by the powers that be the ciao community. Anyway back to the DVD.
I am a big fan of Jackie Chan movies, I think his stunt work is incredible and his acrobatic abilities are great though his acting is questionable. Chris Tucker is also a great charcter and the high pitched commedian is usally hilarious.
~~~~The Movie~~~~
Rush Hour stars the afore mentionned Jackie Chan, as Detective Inspector Li, a Hong Kong police officer and Chris Tucker, who plays Detective James Carter. Li comes to America after his good friend’s daughter is kidnapped, Chris Tucker is hired by the FBI to keeping Chan away from the case. As the chalk meets the cheese it is obvious we are in for one truly enjoyable ride. Carter and Li are then forced to battle a whole organization of goons before they can take on a Hong Kong crime lord, Juntao.
Rush Hour boasts great comedy and action packed scenes and hardly a dull moment, and surprisingly for me was that the plot was not that bad. The fight scenes are great and Chan shines in them. Chris Tucker lives up to his reputation as the high pitched funny man and leaves you forever in stitches. The film is really entertaining and it is no wonder why it was such a big hit.
~~~~The Extras~~~~
New Line has filled this disk up with loads of the usual extra stuff.
You get(deep breath now):
-the original theatrical trailer -a cast and crew section -an audio commentary by director Brett Ratner -an isolated score with commentary from composer Lalo Schifrin -deleted scenes -an original behind the scenes featurette -two music videos with commentary by Brett Ratner -Ratner’s first college short film, with commentary, which is pretty bad!
Phew. Loads of stuff and all thoroughly entertaining But that isn't it! Pop it in your DVD drive on your PC and you can play two different interactive games, read the script, learn more about Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Great Stuff!
The quality of the audio and video on this disk and the film is great too. Combined with great extras this film is a must buy.
