Rush Hour, the original film released in 1998 was an instant success. It took over 250 million dollars worldwide, so it was hardly surprising that a sequel was going to be made. The story continues with exactly the same cast, and provides more of the same action.
Jackie Chan is Chief Inspector Lee of the Hong Kong Police, is teamed up with LAPD officer James Carter (Chris Tucker). Carter is on holiday in Lee’s native Hong Kong, intending to have a good time, and hopefully hook up with a few oriental ladies on the way. However Lee’s police work keeps getting in the way. Lee is eventually handed a case that he cannot help getting involved in, and ruining the holiday.
The case puts Lee with his dad’s old police partner Ricky Tan now a famous eastern gangster in a ring of smuggling and money laundering. Tan’s idea is a stolen American printing press brought on the black market that is able to print such realistic $100 bills that the only well to tell them apart is to burn them and see if they burn red. To get these notes into circulation the gang intends to use the gambling market. Carter and Lee have to stop this, though they have fallen foul of the American secret services, and have to work independently. With all the double crossings and appointments, will the gang succeed and get all the bad money into the country or will the others be able to stop them? Well that would be telling.
Jackie Chan is simply one of the best in the business for stunts and kung fu fighting in general. He does all his own stunts, and in this film they really are spectacular. Like hanging off the collapsed bamboo scaffolding or fighting their way out of the heaven on earth massage parlor. It is a great action film, constant action from start to finish. Chris Tucker is just slightly crazy, funny guy when he starts singing karaoke in a Hong Kong bar, or starting a political rally in the casino when he is handed $500 chips, not $1000 ones. (Is it cos I is black?) One of the bad guys is a girl, kind of a problem with all the fighting and not hitting a lady, lots of good performances, all the action scenes are simply amazing.
For a comparison between the two films, Rush Hour 1 and 2, both are excellent. Rush Hour 1 was original when it came out; both combine excellent stunts, fast paced action and tense moments. While this one everything is expanded, the stunts are bigger and better, characters are expanded, and just in general everything good.
The film lasts 93 minutes and is rated 12. There is a lot of fighting, but no real gore or blood. It runs in widescreen 2:35:1 ratio, with 5:1 Dolby Digital surround sound. The DVD contains over 85 minutes of extras, at least according to the box. I have not watched all of these yet, but what I have seen is excellent, and looks a good one for quality and value. There is the usual directors commentaries, lots of pieces about the special effects and stunts during the film, that is a great look, very interesting and good. Jackie Chan does a walk through the city of Hong Kong, lots of outtakes from the film and visual effects explained.
An excellent action film, some of the effects and stunts are breathtaking. There is plenty of action with the film being fast throughout. Jackie Chan is great, Tucker is funny, wile also surprising at the stunts. And of course there are some very nice ladies which do appeal to some! Overall five stars all the way.

Hey there, I don't know if you will be able to answer my question, but you know the bit where chan thinks carter is dead, and he's in the car, and that song comes on, would you know what the song is called? - if it helps it kinda sounds like "every breath you take by police and sting", thanks alot mate ~ben~
