...'Rumpole of the Bailey' is one of my favourite book series, and is also one of my favourite television series of all time. Spanning well over a decade, Thames television produced over 40 episodes of the crusty old barrister's tales, penned both for book and screen by John Mortimer, who used to take delight in highlighting silliness in judicial judgements by putting those decisions into the guise of his own judges, perhaps most especially judge Bullingham.
Leo McKern, a well-known British character actor perhaps most famous internationally for 'A Man for All Seasons' and 'Shoes of the Fisherman', found this great role late in life, and became the quintessential image for Rumpole. Series 1 boasts an impressive 13 episodes, which follows the day to day antics of 7 workers in Dusseldorf, Germany. In series one, we meet, the "Magnificent Seven", composed of Barry (Timothy Spall),Dennis ( Tim Healy), Neville ( Kevin Whately) , Oz( Jimmy Nail),Wayne( Gary Holton), Bomber ( Pat Roach ) and Moxey (Christopher Fairbank) .

...I had seen one episode of Black Books and thoroughly enjoyed it, but was unsure if I would like the whole series, as I am a hard one to please with regards to comedy.
Blackbooks 2 is zany, off the wall and stupid humour, whilst retaining an intelligence to it that has me chuckling hours after watching it when a random quote comes into my head
Blackbooks 2 is the further adventures of Bernard and Manny (played by Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey respectively) and Bernards bookshop. Bernard is a chain smoking wino who is rude and eccentric, but hugely funny. He abuses poor Manny on a day to day basis, which in a strange way - he seems to enjoy.
My 13 year old nephew loves this, all of my friends love this, even my 54 year old mother loves this. I haven't played it for anyone who hasn't ended up laughing out loud.
