Advantages: Superb acting; low key realism; Lack of prejudice Disadvantages: None (unless you hate reading subtitles)
Every now and then a movie will sneak up and catch you by surprise. So it was for me with Paradise Now, a film I knew nothing about, other than a website blurb about two potential suicide bombers.
Co-written and directed by Hany Abu-Assad this is a story set within the West bank in Palestine, with two friends, Said and Khaled, being offered their chance of martyrdom (hence 'Paradise Now') by carrying out a suicide mission in Tel Aviv.
Both the men react to the invitation with a mixture of relief, confusion and elation, though it is Khaled who seems the happiest to grab the chance. Said is more thoughtful, altogether darker, about the whole affair.
But they are both ready, and then readied after a blackly comic filming of their martyr speeches, as they have their hair shaved short, and bears shaved off, to make them look more ...

Advantages: A Celebrity Workout DVD that really works! Disadvantages: The instructor, you need willpower
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Natalie started off weighing 10st 8lbs, which is not actually that heavy at all, she just appeared heavier. Since this workout she now weighs 8st 1lb, and had lost 7 inches off her waist. These are really fantastic results but Natalie had to work really hard to achieve them and she has done really well, she should be proud - she looks fabulous! Obviously for the DVD she has added make up and a fake tan etc but you can still clearly see the difference in her figure.
First things first, the instructor Natalie had coaching her was Dee Thresher, she annoyed me so much, she was awful at being an instructor, unless you knew the moves before you would not be able to follow them, she explained everything badly and just assumed everyone would know what she was talking about, it ...
Advantages: Good CGI, Good children's film. Disadvantages: Not enough adult humour.
at the Pen Gu beach where the championship is taking place.
I don't want to reveal any more of the plot as to do so would give away some of the game, but Cody does make an enemy in the form of Tank Evans (Diedrich Bader) who has been the champion surfer for the past ten years since Big Z died in a competition!
Want to know what else happens?I suggest you go see this at the cinema or wait until mid September when it is due to be released onto DVD.
I thought this film was very cleverly made, as it was done in the form of a documentary which at times made the film feel a little slow, but also gave perfect opportunity for the viewer to find out a bit more about the characters in depth. The CGI (computer generated imagery) was fantastic in places, especially the surfing scenes and underwater! The way it was filmed gave the impression that ...
